Municipal Coordinator in San Antonio, TX
POSITION SUMMARY: The Municipal Coordinator acts as the face of Republic Services to members of the public, as well as commercial/industrial business owners in our municipal contracted cities. The Municipal Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of community events, school engagements, public education or recycling education throughout their market, to position and grow the Republic Services brand, as well as comply with municipal contract obligations. The role and tasks completed by the Municipal Coordinator are directly connected to our goals of being a good neighbor and differentiating the Company in the communities that we serve, making the Municipal Coordinator a vital member of the Municipal team. The Municipal Coordinator reports to the Manager, Municipal Sales.
Plans, coordinates and staffs community outreach and public education events throughout the market, including but not limited to displays at weekend parades, city fairs, recycling events, recycling education and guidance to customers, and school programs.
Frequently engages in the community with residents, commercial and/or industrial customers to represent the Republic Services brand and the obligations of the contract.
Serves as a liaison between Republic Services and the community, by relaying community thoughts and opinions to local Republic Services management. Supports the creation and distribution of Annual Reports for top municipal contracts in the business unit, which highlight key metrics, contributions and services delivered during the year to the municipality.
Supports the dissemination of communications, programs, outreach, marketing materials and reports to the public that are directly related to the assigned contracts.
Supports the planning, coordination and staffing of volunteer programs, in alignment with our focus on Neighborhood Revitalization through the National Neighborhood Promise.
Supports t marketing efforts for Republic Services in the community, which may include but is not limited to newsletters, bill stuffers, mailers, or public education campaigns.
Performs other job- related duties as assigned or apparent.
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Understanding and experience utilizing market communication tools, including social media.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Functional knowledge and ability to use Office based programs (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
Ability to manager several different projects at a time.
Ability to create clear, concise detail oriented plans and complete tasks by assigned deadlines.
Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization and with external customers and vendors.
Ability to interact with and present to the public, municipal customers and internal company management.
Experience or understanding of the Recycling and Waste industry is a plus.
