As a Multi-Modal Transportation Engineer and key member of our team, you'll get to work with the most talented and diverse team of engineers and planners in the Portland transportation market. You will have the chance to provide design expertise in a structured team framework, contributing to the design and construction of multi-modal projects. Working with other members of the team, this position includes involvement in the technical project work, as well as project delivery and task/design management, and the ability to communicate and coordinate with team members and clients. You'll work across the state of Oregon and other western states in support of a broad range of multi-modal planning and design projects. During your time with us, you will also have the opportunity to grow professionally through designing challenging projects and leading project teams to deliver projects.

You will use your understanding of data analysis and experience with technical design, including experience working with Civil3D, to:

  • Act as part of a team of professionals on multiple projects. Ability to identify and solve design and construction challenges is required.

  • Interact with team members and assist in the coordination of work among engineers and detailers.

  • Develop preliminary and detailed construction cost estimates.

  • Assist with conceptual studies.

  • Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.

  • Works collaboratively with the CAD technician team

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Attend design review meetings, and interact with clients as your level of experience progresses


  • Experience working with teams developing plans, specifications, and estimates transit projects

  • A minimum of 8 years design experience on relevant projects

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited university

  • Oregon PE, or the ability to obtain within 3 months

  • Strong proficiency with Civil3D

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as other commonly employed software

Minimum Requirements * BA/BS plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 10+ years of prior design engineering experience on rail, transit, and/or highway projects. * Significant experience using InRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects. * Oregon Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain license within six months. * Must possess a valid driver's license. * Familiarity in municipal or transit clients.
