Annual Compensation: $62,000.00 - $68,000.00

Position Overview:

Responsible for writing, designing, building, and managing visual and multimedia deliverables that will help inform, educate, and inspire audiences through communicating through print media, digital Web-based, and audiovisual communications for the Coalition for the Common Good (CCG). Works closely with Marketing Communications staff at CCG member institutions. The position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

45% Visual Storytelling: Graphic Design, Digital, and Web Design

  • Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, creating, and editing a range of traditional graphic design needs and standalone or Web-based digital deliverables.
  • Graphic design projects include, but are not limited to, individual assets to full layouts for materials like magazines, brochures, booklets, and other print documents; layout and production of letters, postcards, table tents, and similar custom prints; institutional communication, signage, and other promotional and informational deliverables; and graphic assets used to support marketing and advertising campaigns including billboards, infographics, print ads, posters, brochures, collateral, and magazine layouts.
  • Digital and Web design needs include illustrated content and other visual assets for digital slideshows and/or videos; digital layouts and assets for digital communication and engagement tools like Constant Contact, CRMs, and similar platforms; digital assets and graphics to support digital ads as part of integrated advertising campaigns; Web page layouts and over-arching website themes, microsites, and web-based graphics; motion graphics for videos and multi-media presentations.

40% Written Storytelling: Writer and Copy Editor

  • Responsible for creating written content for CCG communications, brochures, ads, and other marketing materials.
  • Edits content written by others; works with the CCG Senior Marketing and Communications teams to support the creation of integrated brand messages and will write for web, digital advertising, emails, letters and publications.

10% Creative Team Collaboration, Marketing Support, and Client Services

  • Works collaboratively in a team environment in supporting the Core Communication Team
  • Translates creative briefs and brainstorming sessions into written content, visuals, and designs for print and digital
  • Supports special projects, and contributes to the work of the Marketing and Communications leadership and team members

5% Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in communication, journalism, public relations, visual communications, media creation, or related field, with three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of the Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design purposes and familiarity with AP style writing guidelines.

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing multi-layered, fully integrated marketing and communication flows and campaigns.
  • Familiarity or skill in a broad range of writing styles from ad copy writing to writing for the web, utilizing Adobe After Effects, WordPress, Microsoft Office, and other software for motion graphics and/or media editing.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects while meeting client expectations, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining professionalism.
  • Demonstrate superb organizational skills and accomplish deadlines and projects in a timely manner.
  • Able to prioritize and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail in an environment with competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Able to show initiative and good judgment in communicating with others and performing the duties of the position.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and to develop productive and respectful working relationships.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Google tools (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.).

Hours of Employment:

This is a full-time, exempt, position serving a national university. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the supervisor.
