Job Summary:

As part of Makita's Marketing Department, the creative and detail-oriented, Multimedia Designer is responsible for the creative and visual production of quality, creative storytelling using various creative software applications including Adobe Creative Suite and 3D Software. As a Multimedia Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating visually compelling and engaging multimedia content to support our marketing and communication initiatives, both online and offline working with Product Managers, Communications, and Creative Managers to tell compelling stories to educate our customers on how our tools, equipment and accessories perform.

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year

  • Design and develop multimedia assets: Utilize your creative skills and expertise in multimedia design to conceptualize, design, and produce a wide range of multimedia assets, including but not limited to typography, icons, graphics, illustrations, animations, videos, infographics, and 3D Renderings.

  • Construction Industry-related experience is highly desired. Experience using a variety of power tools on light to heavy construction projects is important to understand how and why different tools are used in construction and how their performance enhances the end-user experience.

  • Visual storytelling: Develop visual narratives that effectively convey key messages, brand identity, and product features through compelling multimedia content. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project goals and objectives and transform them into visually appealing and impactful designs.

  • Brand consistency: Ensure that all multimedia designs adhere to brand guidelines and visual standards, maintaining a consistent and cohesive brand presence across various platforms and channels. Implement design elements that enhance brand recognition and resonate with our target audience.

  • Multimedia production: Use industry-standard software and tools to create and edit multimedia content. This may include graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite and 3D Software), video editing software, animation software, and other relevant tools to produce high-quality deliverables.

  • Creative Copywriting: Ability to develop compelling, creative copy to educate customers to drive awareness and sales.

  • Collaboration and communication: Work closely with the marketing team, creative team, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide creative input, and deliver projects within established timelines. Effectively communicate ideas and collaborate on multimedia projects to ensure alignment with overall marketing strategies.

  • Stay updated on industry trends: Keep abreast of the latest trends, techniques, and best practices in multimedia design. Continuously explore new technologies, software, and creative approaches to enhance the quality and impact of our multimedia content.

  • Project management and deadlines: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines without compromising on quality. Ensure efficient workflow and effective time management to deliver high-quality multimedia assets on time.

Skills Required:

  • Professional experience: Proven experience (5+ years) working as a Multimedia Designer or in a related role. Experience in a corporate environment or creative agency is preferred.

  • Proficiency in multimedia software: Expertise in industry-standard software for multimedia design, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects), 3D Software, and other relevant tools. Familiarity with video editing, 3D Animation, and interactive design software is a plus.

  • Creativity and visual storytelling: Strong creative skills with the ability to develop compelling visual narratives and translate complex ideas into visually appealing designs. A keen eye for aesthetics, composition, color, and typography.

  • Strong graphic design skills: Proficiency in graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and visual hierarchy. Experience in creating graphics and illustrations for both digital and print media.

  • Construction-Related Experience: Experience using power tools for construction, maintenance or fabrication is a plus.

  • Creative Copywriting: The ability to write compelling copy to help create awareness and drive sales.

  • Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients. Ability to understand project requirements, incorporate feedback, and present ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in all multimedia assets produced.

  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in multimedia design, including examples of graphic design, animations, videos, and other relevant multimedia work

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This position works in an open office setting that is quiet, and fast-paced and fosters continuous learning while operating under high demand/volume. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and printers.

Travel: Some travel may be required for this position, which includes overnight stays in some cities where events are being held.

Education and/or Experience Desired:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a college or university, or equivalent professional institution. Communications, Film, or Marketing degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training in the field; or equivalent combination of education and experience (photography/creative industry preferred).

  • Previous experience managing projects and supporting field/sales organizations, a plus.
