Position Overview

Seeking a Global Multi-Asset Class Product Marketer for Legg Mason's Multi-Asset Strategies to help position Legg Mason's capabilities in multi-asset and multi-product strategies. Here, you will research competitive trends in multi-asset strategies and drive marketing initiatives related to those strategies while ensuring a clear and compelling marketing message, including investment process, portfolio positioning, and rationale for each covered portfolio. Collaborating heavily with other Global Marketing and Communications (GMAC) colleagues, you will act as a liaison on asset class specific matters between our affiliate's marketing teams and GMAC's US and International Editors. You will also liaise with Product teams, Product Specialists, Compliance and other departments to help with content and address any potential issues. Must be able to think outside the box about marketing more complex and act nimbly, adjusting as business needs evolve.

The Product Marketer acts as the central marketing authority for multi-asset strategies and has a strong understanding of the markets related to their respective strategies. Incumbent must be perceived as a credible source of investment information pertaining to their covered strategies and have a solid understanding of all content available globally to promote the respective strategies.

Reporting to the Global Head of Content, you will primarily interact with the Legg Mason (LM) product specialists, our investment affiliate's marketing and product specialist teams, and GMAC's client experience and editorial teams.

Location may be Stamford, CT or New York City; our Stamford office is located next to the Metro North train station.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop core messaging in collaboration with our investment managers (our affiliates) for multi-asset and multi-product investment strategies, including asset allocation models, multi-asset mutual funds and separately managed accounts, and sub-advisory mandates sold through Legg Mason's Global Distribution organization

  • Ensure global content is consistent with core messaging

  • Obtain intimate knowledge of the investment philosophy and process of each strategy supported including detailed understanding of current investment themes within the portfolio, knowledge of portfolio holdings, risk attributes of the strategy, past and current positioning of the portfolio, near-term outlook for the strategy, and performance attribution

  • Collaborate with LM's Editors and Writers and play the lead role in creating and reviewing relevant collateral, landing pages, social media, and emails concerning multi-asset strategies

  • Liaise with LM product specialists and our affiliates to ensure all data and responses regarding a given product are accurate and appropriate

  • Proofread and conduct quality assurance of electronic and print materials

  • Execute on other projects, as necessary

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in the development of multi-faceted, comprehensive product strategy or marketing campaigns in asset management

  • Bachelor's degree; CFA and/or MBA desired

  • 8+ years' experience in asset management. Experience in a product specialist or product marketing role preferred

  • Series 6 or 7 licensed, if not, must achieve within 1 year of employment

The SVP will be responsible for product management and the process that takes products from inception, through design, build, launch, growth and enhancement.
