Duties

Purpose

The Director of MTSS is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the District's MTSS framework and process. The Director is responsible for leading the District MTSS committee, supporting the schools' MTSS teams and assisting with the oversight of district assessments.

Essential Functions

  • Approaches professional work and decision making through the lens of equity and with an absolute commitment to ensuring necessary resources and supports promoting student growth and learning are provided.

  • Relies on evidence and data to support effective decision making.

  • Coordinates district efforts to provide multi-tiered systems of support and interventions for academics, behaviors, and social emotional learning that are evidence-based and aligned with student needs.

  • Collaborates with other members of the Equity and Learning team and building leaders to support the improvement of Tier I, II, and III instruction for students.

  • Supports building principals in ensuring the consistent and successful implementation of district MTSS framework and processes in their schools.

  • Reviews student academic data and other functional data such as attendance and discipline data to frequently provide consultation to building leadership about changes in practices.

  • Leads the District MTSS committee to refine and/or develop written policies, documents, practices, procedures, and expectations in the District MTSS Handbook.

  • Ensures the fidelity and frequency of building level MTSS meetings that include the continual application of a problem-solving process that includes student data review and that includes various stakeholders.

  • Assists Assistant Superintendent and building leaders with creating, implementing and monitoring school improvement plans.

  • Serves as a resource in evaluating and identifying instructional strategies and interventions to improve achievement for all students.

  • Develops and oversees systems to monitor progress of all students receiving intervention to ensure continued growth.

  • Works in collaboration with district administrators and school principals to determine professional development needs related to MTSS including but not limited to the following information contained in the District MTSS handbook, data analysis, writing smart goals and developing progress monitoring plans.

  • Participates in collaborative grade level meetings and staff meetings to assist in the analysis and use of assessment data to improve student achievement.

  • Works with members of the Division of Equity and Learning and Student Services to create an intervention menu for ELA, math, behavior and SEL.

  • Exhibits strong knowledge of WIDA standards, biliteracy, and second language acquisition.

  • Submits monthly intervention data reports to Assistant Superintendent of Equity and Learning.

  • Assists in the organization and oversight of the universal and common assessments across the district.

  • Serves as a resource to the school's administrative staff regarding assessment plan implementation and assessment accommodations.

  • Acts as a liaison between district assessment manager and school administrators on matters related to assessments.

  • Actively participates on appropriate district and school based committees.

Other Functions

  • Collaborates with the Superintendent's Cabinet to support district initiatives.

  • Develops strategies to ensure the highest level of efficiency and quality of district programs.

  • Attends school board meetings, providing information and clarification of issues when necessary.

  • Creates opportunities for ongoing dialogue with building administrators and staff to support district initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of successful teaching experience
  • 3-5 years of successful prior administrative experience at the school or district level with a proven track record of strong leadership and effective decision making

Job Requirements

  • Federal, state, and district policies, regulations and laws pertaining to job functions

  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records

  • Business appropriate grammar and punctuation in English and Spanish

  • Reading and spoken fluency and comprehension in English and Spanish

  • Effective knowledge of data analysis and research methodologies

  • Knowledge of effective practices supporting workplace safety

  • Thorough understanding of the district's curriculum and assessment systems for all students

  • Thorough understanding of district programs serving special populations

  • Operation of standard office equipment, computers, and software platforms including G Suite for Education, Office Suite, student information systems, school scheduling, personnel and financial management software
