MTCC AC Bitterroot College Student Success

The University of Montana Bitterroot College is located in Hamilton, Montana. The college offers college and workforce training courses in order to connect rural students to learning opportunities.

Bitterroot college emphasizes student success, community engagement, and professional skills and confidence, which are facilitated through accessible academics, workforce training, and enrichment programming. The duration of these programs ranges from one semester to two years, with pathways to further college or entry into the workforce. The Bitterroot College (BC) was established by the Bitterroot College Program Steering Committee in the fall of 2009.

The BCP Steering Committee was formed in the spring of 2009 after Montana State Legislature's decided to drop the plans for a community district in Ravalli County. The program was renamed the Bitterroot College University of Montana in 2012. Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project.

MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.
