Position Profile

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will provide clinical and scientific information in response to inquiries about Jazz Pharmaceuticals' marketed and developmental products to physicians, other health care providers, medical centers and staff, health maintenance organizations, and government health agencies. The MSL will also identify and develop relationships with regional and national key opinion leaders; and when appropriate the MSL will assist with the identification of potential clinical investigators. The Medical Science Liaison will collaborate with other field-based personnel to ensure that Jazz maintains a strong clinical and scientific presence in the field.

Territory: Hartford, CT and Boston, MA

Job Responsibilities:

  • Enhance Jazz Pharmaceuticals' image as an advocate of medical advancement by using knowledge of product, disease state and pipeline products to engage healthcare providers in meaningful scientific exchange of information

  • Present scientific and clinical data for Jazz's marketed products

  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with key opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and providers at academic and non-academic settings in order to achieve mutually agreed upon objectives (i.e., investigator-initiated studies, publications, etc.)

  • Consistently demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude that exemplifies ownership of business, partnership with key opinion leaders, teamwork with peers, and respect of supervisors, peers, and customers

  • Possess an established medical/scientific background and a proven ability to effectively communicate complex information

  • Develop and prioritize solutions to problems, understand relationship between actions and results, and be able to understand and appreciate needs of the healthcare community

  • Accomplishes goals within boundaries established by regulatory and legal compliance in accordance with company policies and sound ethical practices.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree required (MD, PhD, PharmD) with a minimum of 3 years experience in MSL or comparable role

  • Knowledge of hematology/oncology medicine preferred

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel

  • Ability to collaborate with internal colleagues in sales, marketing, and managed care accounts

  • Ability to deliver scientific and clinical presentations to many types of audiences, including managed care

  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 60% of work days required

Job Summary The Oncology Clinical Research Coordinator I of Cancer Clinical Research Office (CCRO) is an integral member of the research team. In compliance with all regulatory, institutional and departmental requirements, performs patient screening, data collection and data entry for research protocols, databases and projects within HHCCI, and ensures the data quality and integrity for each clinical trial. Assists and reports to a higher level clinical research personnel with implementation of research protocols. Key Functions and Responsibilities: * Assists the higher level research staff in the implementation of protocols, consent forms and adverse event reporting to conduct research with human subjects. * Assists the higher level research staff with the recruitment of appropriate study participants by determining eligibility status, obtaining permission from the participant's physician and obtaining patient informed consent in order to fulfill study contract obligations and to comply with regulatory requirements. * Utilizes Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) and various databases (Access, Excel, RAVE, IRIS, etc.) and source records in electronic medical record systems to collect research participant information for a research project, database and/or protocol. * Enters relevant data collection into various electronic data capture systems as per established within the protocols and completes data entry within the protocols timelines. * Assist with protocol calendars, schemas, schedules and participant tracking logs. * Assists higher level clinical research staff in scheduling the patient's visits on clinical trial for various study related procedures. * Assists with preparing for internal and external audits of a protocol by reviewing participant charts and ensuring participant charts are complete and organized to ensure protocol compliance. * Notifies research staff and PI of protocol violations, deviations, etc. and assists in the completion of note to files, while also ensuring timely reporting to the IRB/Protocol Sponsor. * Assists research account specialist of CCRO with clinical trial billing in resolving any related queries. * Handling confidential information appropriately Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree (in Nursing, Pharmacy, Healthcare related). * Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant clinical research experience. * Demonstrated clinical competency with patient related measurements and with a high degree of accuracy with respect to documentation and data collection. * Ability to work with spreadsheets (such as Excel), familiarity with databases (ex: Medidata, RAVE, IRIS, NSABP, GOG, RTOG etc.) and querying. * Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel and electronic data capture systems We take great care of careers.
