We are seeking an MSK Care Advisor to join the Patient Services team. You will be part of an administrative and clinical team to receive, assess, and bring to appropriate resolution all new visit (external and internal) requests for physician services at the Center.

We expect that you will:

  • Screens requests according to Service and Physician criteria to ensure the most accurate scheduling.

  • Improve patient access while providing a public relations role sensitive to patients' needs by using critical thinking and decision-making skills.

  • Build an excellent and accurate embodiment of the MSK brand by providing the first impression and first experience for new patients.

  • Play a meaningful role in generating new visit volume, figuring out whether patients choose to receive treatment at MSK and, in turn, generating revenue and growth for the institution.

  • Field incoming inquiries and requests, and matching patients to the best possible service, physician, and appointment based on their diagnosis, geographic location, and preferences.

  • Develop deep expertise in a primary clinical group (set of disease areas)

  • Removes obstacles for new patients by assisting with obtaining records, radiology/pathology reports, etc.

  • Directing patients regarding insurance concerns; and advocating to secure timely appointments.

  • Exceed patient expectations with your accessibility, knowledge, generosity, partnership, and support serving as a guide for patients, caregivers, and clinical leadership.

Does this sound like you?

We need you to have:

  • Interest in a role that combines both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

  • 1-3 years of related experience within the healthcare field; a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology; ability and interest to learn clinical information and criteria.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Epic

  • Ability to handle acutely ill outpatients in stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Availability: Monday-Friday (flexible to work between the hours of 8am and 6pm; schedules vary for Department coverage)

  • Superb social skills; able to effectively partner and make impactful connections

  • A strong interest in working with people in a patient focused environment

You Are: * An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding * Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with a team to meet shared objectives and goals * Actively seeking new ways to grow and challenge yourself, using both formal and informal development * Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances * Passionate about working in a healthcare setting and committed to delivering a best-in-class patient experience You Will: * Work as a member of practice staff team of session assistants to ensure that each physician practice session is well-prepared, organized, and fully utilized and that each patient visit occurs with satisfaction * Serve as a liaison between the patient, family, and clinical team during the office visit * Greet/check-in and orient patients to the outpatient visit and to the environment, as well as complete the patient visit by scheduling and coordinating all appropriate tests, procedures, visits, treatments and consultations in accordance with the physicians' orders You Have: * An associate's or 2 years college (required); bachelor's degree (preferred). A high school diploma/GED and 2 years relevant experience (frontline, patient-facing role in healthcare) in lieu of the associate's degree. * A proven dedication to healthcare through work, internship, or volunteer experience. * Excellent computer skills * Ability to handle acutely ill patients in stressful situations with a positive demeanor * Ability to provide at least a 2 year commitment Hours vary between 6:15am and 10:00 pm (Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays). Schedules are provided one week in advance and flexibility between shifts is expected. In order to be considered for the Care Coordinator position, you are required to pass an online Administrative Assessment.
