ABB is seeking an Intern in the area of Mechanical Prototyping & Design to contribute to its research and development activities in the US Corporate Research Center (USCRC) based in Raleigh, NC.As an intern with USCRC, you will haveA flexible, interdisciplinary, and inspiring work environment.Opportunities to engage in cutting-edge proof-of-feasibility exercises and industrial research and development activities.



Typical duties / responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, procure and build prototypes for power electronics applications

  • Obtain electrical and mechanical details for prototypes from the project team

  • Use software like SolidWorks for design of prototypes

  • Work with external vendors to procure parts

  • Assemble, build and test the prototypes



  • Currently enrolled and seeking a graduate or post-graduate degree (BS or MS) at an accredited US Based Institution.


  • Pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Hands-on experience in SolidWorks.

  • Experience with 3D printing.

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering is preferred but not required.

  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
