Job Duties

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.

  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.

  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.

  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.

  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results


  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
  • ARRT (RT). In addition, ARRT (MRI) or MRI registry eligible with completion within 12 months of hire. State licensure if required by law.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

Due to Point of Care Testing duties associated with this position, upon hire, a copy of highest level of education (diploma, degree, or transcripts) would be required to present to the hiring manager. If this is available to you at this time, please attach it with your resume in one document.

As an ED Rad Tech, you need to know how to: * Provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to assist the physicians, nurses and other technical and administrative staff in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout the facility. * Operate and maintain all imaging department equipment including but not limited to: X-Ray, CT, C-Arm, CR reader, and PACS. * Perform all imaging exams in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws and ensure the physician on duty is notified of the results. * Perform basic clinical procedures under the direction of the physician and/or nurse on duty. * Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats (EPIC). * Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations. * Maintain an adequate supply of all reagents and consumables to perform quality testing. * Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment. * Perform quality control as established by this laboratory. * Perform proficiency testing and/or split sample analysis periodically as established by this facility. * Retain records of all analytic activities performed for a minimum of two years. * Perform all quality assessment activities assigned to this position and document these activities for periodic review by the Laboratory Supervisor and/or the Laboratory Director. * Perform duties as an Emergency Department Technician as needed. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require: * High School diploma or GED equivalent, required * Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology, required * Certified as a medical radiologic technologist and/or CT machine operator as required by the state in which practicing, required * Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and computed tomography, required * Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, required * Associate's Degree in radiology, preferred * 3+ years radiologic/imaging experience, preferred * 2+ years of CT experience, preferred * 1+ years of emergency room experience, preferred * Proficiency with most X-ray/CT equipment, manufacturer's hardware/software and PACS, required Your next move.
