Job Summary / Job Purpose

MRI Technologist operates a magnetic resonance scanner toobtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment ofpathologies. Obtains patient history and screening forms, explains routineprocedures and addresses patient concerns. Responsible for maintaining patientrecord and files. Performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance scanner.

Essential Functions
1.Demonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age ofthe patients served.
2.Performsprocedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with Radiologist'sexpectations and protocols.
3.Displaysknowledge and complies with the National Patient Safety goals.
4.Supportsand reports any identified compliance matters.
5.Participatesin hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety andsatisfaction.
6.Maintainsprofessional development and education for technical competency.
7.Usesstandard precautions, PPE, at all times.
8.Maintainsregulatory compliance and licensure for current position.
9.Attendsall KYOne Health required educational programs as well as all Learn modules.
10. Contributes to theefficient operation and monitoring of the department and utilizes our resourcesefficiently.
11. Demonstrates completeworking knowledge of equipment within assigned area.
12. Knowledge andperformance of the Code of Conduct Standards.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

Education /Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):

  • Graduateof an accredited school of RadiologicTechnology

  • AmericanRegistry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)required

  • Stateof Kentucky License required.

  • BLSCertification required

Experience(required and preferred):

  • .Previous experience in MRI preferred butnot essential for all positions.

VIEW JOBS 1/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-12T00:00 1st Shift, Part Time Performs awide range of technical procedures analyzing blood and various body fluids inorder to expedite the physician's diagnosis and treatment of his patient.Records and documents this data in the proper areas. The employee shall assist withquality audits in accordance with accrediting agencies. Technical duties willinclude routine patient testing, complex red cell antibody identification, andpreparation of blood components for transfusion. Technical competency andcritical thinking are required, as errors could result in serious consequencesto patients. Work involves confidential patient diagnosis and test results,requiring the employee to respect the patient's right to confidentiality. Thetechnologist shall have good communication skills and interact pleasantly andprofessionally with all co-workers, medical staff, patients, visitors andothers. The employee shall actively support the policies of the Laboratory andorganization. Essential Functions 1. Direct observationsof routine patient test performance, including, as applicable, patientidentification and preparation; and specimen collection, handling, processingand testing 2. Monitoring therecording and reporting of test results, including, as applicable, reportingcritical results 3. Review ofintermediate test results or worksheets, quality control records, proficiencytesting results, and preventive maintenance records 4. Direct observation ofperformance of instrument maintenance and function checks 5. Assessment of testperformance through testing previously analyzed specimens, internal blindtesting samples or external proficiency testing samples 6. Evaluation ofproblem-solving skills 7. Performs qualitycontrol procedures to ensure accuracy of test results. 8. Performs pertinentquality control procedures in accordance with established criteria. Analyzes patient samples according toapproved standards of testing. 9. Maintains equipmentto ensure accurate, consistent results in the performance of tests. 10. Demonstrates the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.Collects and processes laboratory specimens 11. Provides teaching andeducation to laboratory personnel. 12. Assists in theorientation of new staff as requested, as demonstrated by the implementation ofthe orientation checklist. 13. Demonstrates theknowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of thepatients served. Collects and processes laboratory specimens. 14. Follow standards ofsafety dictated by the laboratory, the hospital and regulatory agencies. 15. Contributes to theefficient operation of the laboratory. 16. Participates in continuing educationprograms for the upgrade of educational experience.
