Responsibilities

Under the direction of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI examinations) accurately, independently, and efficiently. AH 123

Qualifications

Education Background

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Satisfactory completion of formal specific training in an AMA-approved Radiology Technology program.

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal cross sectional anatomy class and a formal MRI instrumentation class (must complete classes within 2 years of hire).

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Requires certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). OR: board eligible graduate from an accredited institution. Certification required within 3 months of hire.

  • Advanced Registry in the modality within 12 months of hire date

  • Requires licensure with the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist within 3 months of hire.

  • Requires CPR or BLS, must obtain within 90 days of hire.

  • Requires 24 CME credits every two years.

Special Training/Skills

  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.

  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and MRI physics and principles.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year radiology experience, preferably in an acute care hospital environment preferred..
