  • Performs and is responsible of MRI patient safety screening.

  • Responsible for setting techniques, protocols and operating MRI equipment accurately, efficiently and safely at all times.

  • Able to perform all MRI procedures including head, spine, extremity, abdomen, chest, cardiac and pelvic exams including MRA.

  • Share with appropriate personnel, as required any and all clinical information, patient history, and pertinent symptoms of each patient prior to performing MRI procedures(s).

  • Has clear examination protocols establish with the monitoring radiologist prior to performing the MRI procedure(s).

  • Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture.

  • Prepares and administers IV contrast under the direction of the physician.

  • Notifies the supervisor and/or director of any variances from establish policies and procedures in relationship to safety, quality and patient care.

  • Responsible for the organization of the daily workload in an effort to efficiently utilize equipment and staff to best suit utilization demands and patient care at all times.

  • Maintains and monitors MRI computer database and functions as needed.

  • Performs and monitors quality assurance on MRI unit and laser imager, calibrates scanner and laser imager as required to maintain high quality diagnostic images and identify problems.

  • Initiates notification of appropriate personnel when MRI equipment and/or laser imager or as indicated by QA activities.

  • Is proficient in the operation of Radiology equipment in the main department.

  • Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart/medical record for consistency (examination ordered, clinical history/diagnosis) and record pertinent data on requisition.

  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy: presents completed examination to radiologist or interpreting physician.

  • Assess patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.

  • Positions and transports patients as comfortable as possible.

  • Records diagnostic information on film for review by radiologist or physician.

  • MRI Tech is a member of the MRI Safety Committee.

  • Performs proper computer skills to include all appropriate edits, status changes, charges, and any other process necessary for proper patient charges.

  • Performs examinations in an accurate and timely manner and is "on-call as needed.

  • Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.

  • Follows all establish facility/department policies/procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Participates in department quality assurance programs.

  • Enhances self-growth and development through participation in education programs, professional societies, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Category I - HIGH RISK This position is of a high-risk category for occupational exposure to communicable diseases and the appropriate measures will be taken. Therefore, all procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucus membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category 1 tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures are required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
