What would you be doing as an MRI Tech at Reston?

  • Prepares MRI scannerand performs quality control tests. Monitorinventory of supplies and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.

  • Perform all MRIprocedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlinedin department policy and procedure manual and comply with all applicablefederal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.

  • Obtain qualityMRI images of patients. Demonstratescompetence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability toadjust protocols as required.

  • Reviews each examfor technical accuracy and identifies anatomical orientation on allimages. Identifies each patient andreviews the requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinicaldiagnosis. Assures that all images aretransmitted correctly to PACS for radiologist viewing.

  • Reports anysignificant problems related to patient, physicians, procedures, housekeeping,maintenance, supplies, or personnel to the Lead Technologist and/or AssistantDirector.

  • Demonstratescompetency in IV access and IV contrast administration.

  • Utilize propersterile techniques in setting up and performing interventional procedures.

  • Performsresconstructions/3-D imaging and MR per protocol.

  • Properly enterscharges for exams in RIS (Meditech) in a timely manner.

  • Takes call asassigned by Lead Technologist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduateof AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.

Responsible for continuingeducation credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.

Licensure: ARRT(R)(MR).

Experience: Minimumof one year as a MRI technologist preferred.

Performs x-rays on all urgent care and occupational health patients. Triages, splints and support the Urgent Care team and providers on staff Clinical Services - Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions. Patient Care - Administers sound patient care practice according to hospital and department policies and procedures, to ensure the safety of the patients. Protection/Safety - Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff and self as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. Environment of Care/Equipment- Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work areas in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. Support Functions - Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Staff Development - Demonstrates the initiative for self-development, to ensure proficiency of staff with new technological changes. Requirements Experience * Required: Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist/student Education * Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic radiography Certification * ARRT registry eligible. ARRT must be obtained within 1 year of hire: BLS Licensure * Must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an INOVA free standing Imaging Center not affiliated with one of the INOVA Hospitals Special Skills * Effective interpersonal skills, ability to multi task and make clinical decisions to facilitate patient care. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and spreadsheets as needed to facilitate clinical care as well as EMR and PACS trouble shooting as required.
