We are currently seeking a Full-time MRI Technologist in the Minneapolis area

The technologist operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce images that assist physicians in the treatment and diagnosis of our patients

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The technologist demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform imaging procedures that meet the quality expectations of the patient, referring physician, and radiologist. This is accomplished by: following the orders of the referring physician and protocols specified by Radiologist; administering medications such as contrast media as prescribed by the physician order; viewing images to ensure quality of pictures; transferring images to the customer for interpretation and verifying the images and patient information arrived correctly.

The technologist demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He/she is able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patients.

The technologist complies with DMS policies, local, state and federal regulations and laws related to work duties and responsibilities. This includes conducting fire safety and medical emergency response drills, documenting preventative maintenance, performing safety assessments, preparing unit for transportation and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the unit.

The incumbent demonstrates commitment to customer satisfaction and quality as exhibited by internal and external customer feedback. This includes timely completion of mandatory education and current credentials.

The incumbent is in complies with safety and quality procedures and initiatives by strictly following safety policies, rules and safe work methods, making suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety, promptly correcting or reporting safety hazards or unsafe conditions, promptly reporting injuries for timely diagnoses and medical treatment, and by participating in safety processes such as safety committee, safety inspections, etc.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

The individual should have the ability to access job related internet websites, review on-line documentation and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

RT (R), (CT)

CPR certified, mandatory education, TB

Advanced certification in modality must be obtained with 18 months of hire.

VIEW JOBS 5/19/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-08-17T00:00 SUMMARY We are currently looking for a Radiology Technologist, Senior - MRI in our Radiology department. This role will work work weekends from 7:00am - 5:30pm (2 weekends on, 1 weekend off) and rotating weekday relief shifts from 12:00pm - 10:30pm. Under the direction of the area supervisor or lead technologist, performs imaging exams/procedures, provides patient care and technical functions to ensure quality radiographic images. RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs general radiographic, fluoroscopic, mammographic, CT, MRI and IR exams as applicable * Adequately prepares room for procedures * Reviews and verifies exam requests to ensure correct exam is ordered on the correct patient * Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contraindications for procedure (labs, allergies, MRI Safety Form, etc.) * Ensures patients receive the same level of care as provided on patient's unit * Explains exam procedure to patient and family members who are present * Starts IV's for contrast administration and evaluates patency for radiographic exams * Prepares and administers oral and/or IV contrast per department protocols * Demonstrates correct anatomic positioning and exposure factors relating to area-specific exams * Follows ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle * Demonstrates extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes * Evaluates images, recognizes normal vs. abnormal anatomy and notifies the appropriate Radiologist as needed; takes appropriate action to address image quality issues * Consistently performs quality exams and ensures that department protocols are followed (positioning protocols, CT, etc.) * Utilizes the image management system; acquire, format, manipulate, archive and print images from the PACS system * Accurately reports total number of images taken and number of and reason for repeat radiographs * Assists physicians and residents as required with radiology exams/procedures * Utilizes EPIC system appropriately (orders, scheduling documentation, and billing) * Implements downtime procedures (manual operations) when computer systems or equipment fails * Instructs new staff and students in imaging procedures and techniques. * Evaluates and completes competency test-outs on students. Provides on-going feedback to Student Coordinator about any issues * Assists with education and training of medical staff (Radiology Residents, Fellows, etc.) * Maintains equipment and room in proper working condition and trouble-shoots malfunctioning equipment. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to proper personnel as soon as issue is recognized * Respects and uses equipment appropriately. Takes ownership and reports incidents involving themselves and the equipment when it happens * Performs various clerical duties * Performs quality control procedures * Demonstrates and promotes a healthy work environment and good teamwork; makes suggestions for improvements * Assists in organizing work flow utilizing available staff and rooms * Assists in coordinating and participates in departmental continuing education in-services * Provides peer feedback for staff performance evaluations * Completes additional duties/projects as assigned * Follows hospital policy in handling and securing medications Mobile Mammography Job Functions * Transports mobile medical imaging equipment (van 28' long, 102" wide and 12' high) to various sites along the mobile route in accordance with applicable DOT rules and regulations and HCMC standard operating procedures * Prepares van to receive patients (leveling of van, generators operating, steps deployed, pathway clear of obstacles such as snow, networks operable. Inside of van is clean and organized and other tasks as deemed necessary by the manufacturer * Communicates with the clinic (organization) regarding arrival and assure compliance with the organizations requests and policies * Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the mobile coach/facility and during the exam, assisting the patient in and out of the van * Transports mobile medical imaging equipment to the storage location * Cleans restocks supplies, downloads images to PACS and prepares the mammography equipment and van for storage (plug in to electricity, lock and arm security system, etc.) * Follows preventive maintenance guidelines and ensures proper maintenance of all equipment. Works with vendors and transportation team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures * Must have a valid driver's license or state equivalent and must have a satisfactory driving record including no more than two moving violations in the past three years of licensure QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Work Experience / Education: * Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) * AND * Two years' experience in Radiology as a Radiology Technologist LICENSE: * Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). * Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT. * Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of employment Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: * Consistently demonstrates strong technical skills with no major performance issues * Excellent critical thinking skills Preferred Qualifications: * Confident * Excellent communication skills * Ability to work independently and self-motivated Hennepin County Medical Center Minneapolis MN
