Radiology-All Technical Areas FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Sr. Staff / MRI Technical Director/ Radiology Administrator Position Summary Under the general direction of the Technologist, the aide performs a wide variety of specific and specialized duties, using independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative.

This position requires knowledge of procedures and policies related to the individual radiology departments such as Diagnostic X-ray, CAT scan, US and MRI and functions as a team member. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands and to seek managerial assistance as needed. This Technologist Aide will perform various administrative duties, assisting technologist with related paperwork, managing confirmation process for upcoming appointments, assist technologists during contrast injections, positioning of patients, scheduling, and transportation of paper work and or patients to expedite scans.

These aids may need to research safety check list and possibly requires working in a high magnetic field. They may act chaperones during exams. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1.

Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors 2. Works as a technical assistant to the Radiology Technologists to include positioning of patients, physical room set up and assisting with patient care during contrast injections. 3. Follows up with the ordering physician as needed to ensure order 4.

Burns images/exams to cd for patients and physicians. 5. Prints and reviews the next day's schedule for MRI and verifies that clinical information and order forms are present. 6. Screens patients for MRI safety prior to test 7.

Performs all other related duties as assigned 8. Helps answer phones 9. Transports papers and patients as needed to expedite exams 10.

Performs 2 Patient Identifiers and completes pre time our forms 11. Confirms that Meditech list is up to date and procedures have not been cancelled 12. Able to scan request and additional paper work into Meditech & PAC's 13.

Able to acknowledge inMediech 14. Able to Verify in PAC"S 15. Able to send to Imaging on call and print reports 16.

Able to send Images to Life image 17. Communicate with radiologist and other providers regarding patients waiting for results Education & Experience Requirements 1. High School diploma or GED required. 2. 0-1 years related work experience required. 3.

Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications, some Microsoft Office applications, Meditech, and GE Centricity PACS Core Competencies 1. Team work 2. Judgment and decisions making skills, 8. Stress tolerance. Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment 1.

Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the time 2. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside all of the MRI zones to access patients, coils and paperwork. 3. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery 4.

Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in all of the MRI zones and radiology scanning areas 5. Frequently move and position patients for exams 6. May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks.

Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality, completeness for the type of test ordered 4. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary 5. Performs quality assurance and calibrations as needed 6. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department 7. Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to MRI supervisor 8. Prints patient CD if needed 9. Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systems 10.
