JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

An MPD Technician will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing diversified tasks relating to MPD equipment rig-up and rig down and to the continuous operation of the MPD / RCD equipment package including but not limited to choke operation, run hydraulics modeling and pressure monitoring. The Manage Pressure Drilling Technician directly reports to the geomarket /district area lead and to the Manage Pressure Drilling Supervisor.

  • Performs field execution of MPD jobs in a safe, timely and efficient manner

  • Practices safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable QHSE guidelines. Follows prescribed MPD operational and safety procedures

  • Actively participates in pre-job safety meetings

  • Repair, overhaul and pressure testing where appropriate all MPD equipment including lines, valves, chokes and mud-gas separator

  • Inspect all equipment used and perform preventive maintenance checks and service

  • Maintain company issued tools and develop knowledge and skill in their use

  • Extensive travel to customer's locations and field support of on-going operations will be required

  • Work effectively as part of operational team in diverse drilling locations

  • Through formal and on the job training develop the ability to safely and efficiently operate the MPD system and associated equipment.

Responsibilities and Specific Duties * Performs signal & communication equipment fault diagnosis, inspection, testing, modification, maintenance and repair. * Inspects, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment such as grade crossing mechanisms, switch machines, multiplexers, programmable logic controllers, surveillance cameras, vital relays, and other complex electronic and electrical circuitry and components. * Uses specialized tools and equipment to perform maintenance and inspection tasks. * Works as assigned in high places, such as support structures and poles. * Records and documents maintenance and diagnostic data. * Prioritizes emergency maintenance tasks in the absence of on-site supervision. * Provides variable shift coverage to accommodate maintenance assignments during peak, off-peak and non-revenue hours. * Assists in the development and refinement of inspection and preventive maintenance programs for the signals & communications section. * Assists in the development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures, safety procedures and work rules for both startup and revenue operations. * Works with staff and vendors to assure adequate spare parts, tools and other necessary equipment is on hand to support revenue operations. * Successfully complete vendor training on signals & communications equipment and maintenance procedures as well as METRO training associated with safety and technical subjects. * Assists other Rail Service Delivery departments as necessary to insure safe and reliable service. * Provides on call availability for emergency repairs and unscheduled incidents. * May serve as "Lead" Maintainer in the absence of the Signals & Communications Supervisor. * Works closely with peers, management, and contractors to assure a safe, reliable, and efficient light rail operation. * Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements High School Diploma is required. Associates degree in electrical/electronic technology is desired. Minimum three (3) years of increasingly responsible electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic maintenance experience.Experience with transit system equipment (track, traction power and/or signals & communications) and tools is preferred.An Associate degree in Electronics/Electrical field from an accredited Technical or Community College may substitute the experience Good (oral and written) communications skills are essential. Ability to communicate well with management, consultants, maintainers, and engineers to resolve maintenance issues.Must be a self-motivated, non-prestigious, and participative team member. Possession of, or ability to quickly obtain, a Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement.Must pass pre-employment physical examination and drug and alcohol screen. Additional Information A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check is required prior to the placement of any individual in a position that requires the operation of a METRO revenue or non-revenue vehicle on behalf of METRO: The Disqualifying Criteria is as follows: * Invalid, suspended, or revoked driver's license * Conviction of driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) within the preceding three (3) years * 2 or more DUI or DWI convictions with no time limit. * Any accumulation of suspensions of over 1 year in length within the last 3 years The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas has a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy for all employees.
