Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH is looking for a hands-on, knowledgeable Mountain Operations Director to lead our mountain operations team. As the Mountain Operations Director, you will be responsible for the direction and oversight of the resorts lifts, snowmaking, grooming, and ski patrol teams committed to delivering a superior experience for all guests and employees. This position is a member of the senior management team and reports directly to the President and General Manager.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Effectiveness
Direct and manage the operational efficiency of the resorts lift, snowmaking, grooming, and ski patrol operations with a critical eye for consistency, detail, and safety; ensure managers and staff respond quickly to issues in the field and work together effectively to mitigate service interruptions.
Assist with the annual operating and capital budgets for areas of responsibility; continuously monitor and analyze results; inspire and rally the efforts of department leaders to meet or exceed performance targets.
Work proactively to develop and retain a strong team of leaders and skilled tradespeople within the mountain operations team.
Resource and Infrastructure Management
Maintain current and thorough documentation of mountain infrastructure maps, specs, systems, and R&M history to inform the strategic development of capital expense plans.
Develop and implement efficient predictive maintenance programs that support the long-term strategic planning for replacement of assets and infrastructure at end of service life.
Partner with Facility Operations Director to implement a resource management plan that provides for the sustainable stewardship of Gunstocks natural resources including forest and river health, timber harvesting, water and energy conservation, and waste reduction.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
10+ years of experience in ski area operations management required; prior experience managing multiple departments preferred
Advanced skiing/snowboard ability and crisis management experience required
Exceptional judgement and reasoning abilities are required; demonstrated ability to approach decision-making and problem-solving functions with resourcefulness and tenacity
Superior public speaking and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated proficiency in business analytics and MS Office suite
Thorough working knowledge of B77 regulations pertaining to the safety requirements for aerial passenger tramways, aerial lifts, surface lifts and tows, as established in the American National Safety Standards; working knowledge of snowmaking systems, water management, and sewer systems required
