Overview

The Dispatcher is responsible for all lines of communication between the Mountain Operations department. This is to ensure safety for our guests and employees in regards to travel and activity on the mountain. Dispatchers are calm, clear, and in control especially in emergency situations. They know the appropriate responses, no matter the situation by tracking and monitoring situations by phone and radio.

Responsibilities

  • Opening the Mountain Operations Dispatch office and assisting in the coordination of opening of ski terrain throughout the morning.

  • Announce travel plan for daily on mountain operations

  • Announce ski lift openings, closers, and windholds throughout the day via radio as well as by phone to Guest Services, Snow Reporters and Ski School

  • Monitor and record all mountian activity such as, but not limited to: snowmobile travel and guest or employee accidents in a computerized log system

  • All Dispatchers must be empathetic and have compassion for guests and teammembers alike while maintaining a calm demeanor in distressing situations

Qualifications

  • Communication Skills:You will be listening and speaking to people by radio and phone, often in some state of distress. Your ability to listen, speak plainly and communicate effectively will be necessary.

  • Ability to Multitask: Dispatchers often are directing multiple people around at the same time, tracking their movements, and keeping tabs on what they need.

  • Problem-Solving Skills:You will need to be able to prioritize the most important situations and think situation through quickly.

  • Typing and computer skill are mandatory

  • Previous dispatching experience is preferred
