POSITION SUMMARY:

Selected individual will be primarily responsible for the safe and efficient operation of select powered industrial trucks (PIT) within the Distribution Center (DC). This position does require physical movement of cases and some daily assignments may not include driving a forklift. The ideal candidate is a team player and capable of working for periods of time without direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safe Operation of Stand-up Forklift and Order Picker

Perform safety check and report any unsafe conditions immediately

Must maintain safe and proper operation of all equipment

Responsible for operating forklift trucks to retrieve/loadout pallets of finished goods placed in staging areas and/or outside storage locations

Remove pallets of finished goods and raw material from the bridge to the inbound side of the racks

Pay close attention to pallet positioning when removing/inserting them from/into any location

Transfer wrapped and tagged pallets from wrap areas to the proper staging area

Load outbound orders by retrieving proper pallets from staging to the truck, scanning pallets for accuracy

Sound horn frequently and follow other PIT operation "best practices"

Wear fall protection 100% of the time while operating any TSP or Order Picker

Perform work duties with minimal supervision; has regular access to supervision

Perform other duties as assigned

qualifications:

Education and / or Experience:

Three (3) to six (6) months onthejobtraining to reach level of proficiency required for adequate performance of all assigned tasks

Pass Company's drivers test to receive a driver's certificate issued by the Company for lift truck operation

Knowledge / Skills / Competencies / Experience:

Must have six months work experience in a fast-paced environment

Must pass the required math reading, and shipping test

Must be able to work up to a ten (10) hour shift

Must be able to operate RF devices

Prefer previous experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)

Prefer six months in a shipping and/or receiving environment

Prefer experienced stock handler in good standing

Prefer a computer literate individual

Must be able to stand on a concrete floor for the entire shift

Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, and reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs to reach into locations in order to grasp and lift finished goods and carry back to truck

Uses both hands and feet to actuate control levers and pedals while driving truck, operating lifting apparatus to pick up unit loads of candles/packaging raw materials for transport to, placing in/on storage racks/conveyors

Must have precise coordinated movements of the fingers of both hands to grasp and manipulate small objects to cut cases open with small knife, write, read, punch clock, and carry candles

Pushing, pulling, positioning empty/filled candle racks for movement

Depth perception involved in positioning of truck and forks, and when storing or retrieving unit loads in/from storage racks to 20' heights

Close concentration and attention to safe operation of trucks to ensure safety of other employees at work in these areas

Must be able to lift 30 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance

Work Environment:

Usual inside warehouse ambient conditions, some dust. Exposed to heights up to and exceeding 35 feet; must always wear safety harness and be safety conscious . Due to obstructed vision, must always be aware of people walking in aisles and of other order pickers in the areas. Must be aware of products possibly falling out of locations or from pallets onto themselves or onto people below.

Qualifications: Prefer a high school diploma or GED; a valid state driver's license; must have passed powered industrial truck training on Truck Order Pick, TSP, and Stand-up Forklift to be fully qualified at a rate class 6. A Trainee (rate class 5) would be an employee that has not successfully passed the training for any one or two of the listed trucks; have six months work experience in a fast paced environment; must pass the required math reading, and shipping test; be able to work any 10 hour shift up to 6 days a week as needed; have the ability to stand on a concrete floor for the entire shift; to lift 30 pounds without assistance and 75 pounds with assistance; have precise coordinated movements of the fingers of both hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists; have the ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, and reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs; must have the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.
