Summary

NOTE: Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. NOTE: This is a TEMPORARY (not-to-exceed 12/31/2011) position.

This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs. Temporary positions do not offer health or life insurance benefits and may be terminated at any time before the expiration date. The appointment to a temporary position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.

These positions are located at the Hudson Valley HCS, in Montrose, NY within the Engineering Section, and this is a dual campus position between Montrose and the Castle Point Campus.
Operate various types and classes of motor vehicles, including buses, trucks, wheelchair vans, patient transport vehicles;
Determine route to be followed;
Responsible for patient safety while in transport;
Operate vehicles or equipment with air brakes and standard systems;
Perform required operator maintenance;
Complete trip tickets and report safety concerns.
Work Schedule: Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays - As needed

Qualifications

This position includes a Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). Selective Placements Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet it are ineligible for further consideration. The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: "Possess a Valid Class B New York State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger and Air Brakes Endorsement."

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Moderate physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls or motor vehicles. Physical effort is exerted in operating, turning, backing and controlling heavier vehicles.
Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time; bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

Fork lift operation requires moderate physical effort in operating hand and foot controls.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Manages and coordinates the operational activities of a funeral home, cemetery and/or crematory operation.
