The NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.

The Administration and Planning Division is responsible for managing and overseeing administrative and operational services for the agency. This includes the daily management of the Offices of Financial Management, Purchasing and Contracts, Operational Services, and Diversity and Inclusion.

The Office of Operational Services coordinates and directs all facilities-related operational support services for both public and privately leased properties agency-wide, including space planning,

telecommunications, security, fire safety, health and safety, and fleet and transportation operations. The division also includes the agency warehouse, print shop, and mailroom operations.

DOF's Administration & Planning Division seeks an experienced and highly motivated Motor Vehicle Supervisor to drive and assist in the maintenance of the agency's fleet. This position includes supervision of two Motor Vehicle Operators.

The agency's Fleet Office is responsible for maintaining the agency's fleet. To maintain safe and efficiently operating vehicles, the Fleet Unit schedules and tracks preventive maintenance care and repairs, including oil changes, annual inspections for each vehicle, while collaborating with oversight agencies.

The selected candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following driving and fleet duties:

  • Driving DOF employees.

  • Supervision of Motor Vehicle Operators.

  • Supervise inter-office mail delivery. Ensure mail is delivered timely.

  • Scheduling appointments with the vendor for maintenance and repairs and driving each vehicle to and from repair shops. Coordinate with vendors and conduct quality control checks on work completed.

  • Process registrations and other documentation for vehicles as needed.

  • Issuing vehicles to authorized drivers. Check driver certification prior to issuance of vehicle.

  • Data entry of Trip Tickets onto an Excel spreadsheet.

Minimum Qualifications

1.One year of permanent service in the title of Motor Vehicle Operator; or

2.One year of full-time satisfactory experience as a motor vehicle dispatcher or manager of an automotive service garage.

License Requirement

A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements described above for Assignment Level I, at least:

a) one year in the title of Motor Vehicle Supervisor; or

b) one additional year of the full-time experience described in "2" above in a large automotive service garage.

Preferred Skills

  • Commercial Driver License.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word.

  • Organizational skills and detailed recordkeeping.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
