Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Operating vehicles weighing up to 26,000lbs with power tailgates.

  • Driving a regularly scheduled run or with accordance with daily trip tickets and referring to road maps as needed.

  • Performing preventive maintenance, inspecting vehicles for safety, fuel and water supply, tires, etc. and performing minor repairs as needed.

  • Recording trip information and reporting difficulties/unusual occurrences.

  • Storing, stacking, and palletizing items based on height, width, and weight.

  • Using power tools, hand tools, dollies, and other tools of the trade.

  • Filling out trip tickets and taking inventory.

  • Following all safety rules, regulations, and traffic signs.

  • Driving, loading, and unloading cargo.

  • Assisting with moving and installing furniture.

  • Maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly warehouse and work area.

  • Performing related duties as required.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: This position requires a current, valid, and unrestricted state Commercial driver's license (CDL). Please indicate either Yes or No to the following question and do not upload a copy of your license at this time. If an interview is requested, you may be required to provide a copy of your current, valid, and unrestricted state Commercial driver's license (CDL).

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The position requires heavy physical efforts such as frequent lifting and moving objects weighing 75-100 pounds. The Motor Vehicle Operator will be expected to work outside in all kinds of weather and inside areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Must move and control heavy equipment, carry, setup, and work from ladders & scaffolding. Is required to work in all kinds of weather and varying road conditions, as well as moving supplies and equipment into and out of buildings. Also, must be able to push loaded carts weighing up to 800 pounds or more. Requires extreme physical effort to prevent items from slipping of falling off the truck power lift gate, especially during inclement weather. The Motor Vehicle Operator works outside in all kinds of weather both in excessive heat and intense cold and snow. Being exposed to dust, dirt, mud, and drafty and noisy areas. The equipment and tasks involved at this level frequently required special care and attention to detail to avoid serious injury.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
