What we are looking for:

MasterClass is looking for an experienced motion design expert to help present our world-class brand to the world, with premium animation, design, and fresh thinking. This person should be comfortable working in various design styles and aesthetics, with a cohesive understanding of motion/video and how still designs translate to animations for TV, social, and web channels. This person should be able to jump into a project at any phase, including ideation, storyboarding, design, concept presentation, and animation.

• Produce high-quality, premium video animations using After Effects

• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple graphic assets/projects at a time

• Understanding the video creation ecosystem

• Able to iterate quickly under tight deadlines

• Build, maintain, and iterate on our motion principles, guidelines, and processes.

• Equipped with a strong knowledge of culture, trends, and relevant new media

• A keen eye for design and the art of timing in post-production

• Understanding performance marketing is a plus

Responsibilities of the role:

• Create visually compelling, thoughtful, on-brand videos to be used in various channels and applications.

• Comfortable designing style frames and animating motion tests

• Take ideas from rough thoughts to clear, concise, finished short-form videos

• Strong storytelling skills: making complicated graphic/video concepts accessible and engaging

• Understand editor workflow and reformatting aspect ratio consistently for video/animation resizing

• Communicate your thought process and visual intention

• Work with the senior video editor to craft graphic concepts for a specific instructor's class

• Maintain the highest quality standards and organization from concept to delivery

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience as a motion graphics artist

• Expert in After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator (proficiency in Figma and Premiere Pro is a plus)

• Experience working with creative & art directors, motion designers and illustrators as well as Video Editors.

• Strong animation, storytelling, and design sensibility shown in a portfolio

• Experience animating with enabled expressions, template building, and quick swap text automation

• Strong grasp of the overall digital marketing ecosystem

• Excellent communication skills

• Managing multiple projects at once

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

• Legally eligible to work in the United States

• Work onsite at the MasterClass office in SF or LA weekly on Tuesdays
