nbkc Bank is looking for a Mortgage Underwriting Manager to lead a team of 20+ underwriters to ensure daily, weekly and monthly production goals are met, while ensuring the quality and integrity of the loans are maintained.

This person will be responsible for having oneon-one coaching sessions with the team members to instill awareness of the team members goals, any challenges or areas of focus, and ensuring opportunities are addressed with a plan identified for success. Additionally the Underwriting Manager will be responsible for discovering and implementing new innovations to increase efficiency as well as the customer experience.

The Underwriter Manager will serve as a communication liaison to ensure that changes are effectively communicated to their team members and as an escalation path for underwriter decisions. Candidates must possess a strong sense of urgency with an ability to work in a team environment, maintaining excellent organizational, communication, and PC skills.

What youll do

  • Manage and lead a team consisting of 20+ Underwriters

  • Manage daily production and quality expectations to achieve monthly business goals and quality service levels

  • Coordinates, develops and manages all underwriting activities, processes, policies and procedures to support the department objectives.

  • Participates in the deployment of new lending products and processes.

  • Work with internal business partners, facilitates the timely, accurate and compliant results that follow all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Oversees and assists with the management of responses to ongoing internal and external compliance and audit findings. Responsible for the determination of root causes of ongoing compliance/audit issues within the department and timely remediation.

  • Functions as the primary resource in resolving daily underwriting issues within the scope of their assigned expertise with the goal of solving problems and offering solutions while safeguarding the company against undue risk.

  • Serves as an additional resource as needed in areas outside their assigned area of expertise.

What youll bring

  • Minimum 5+ years Origination supervisory experience

  • Underwriting experience within past 3 years

  • Acts as a champion for the customer/client, ensuring decisions and actions help achieve their goals

  • Ability to manage risks while ensuring optimal value and outcomes are achieved
