Must have a working knowledge of mortgage banking lending guidelines and be familiar with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA regulations and guidelines. Must have a minimum of three years of mortgage underwriting experience reviewing credit applications and one-to-four unit property appraisals.
Experience with residential processing software and AUS software. Knowledge of Encompass software is preferred. Effective problem solving skills and excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills are needed in this position. Incumbent must have completed their FHA Direct Endorsement certification and/or VA Lender Appraisal Program (LAPP). The incumbent is capable of working in a fast-paced working environment and can work independently to complete tasks on time.
The Mortgage Loan Underwriter evaluates borrowers' creditworthiness and determines if the residential real estate loan application meets minimum bank, investor and loan program standards. Reviews underwriting conditions and documentation submitted to determine if sufficient to satisfy underwriting conditions.
Review and validate income, assets, credit and collateral. Review all quality control tools-i.e. Fraudguard and Mavent reports. Approve or deny loans based on investor or agency loan guidelines and overlays.
