The Mortgage Trainer The Mortgage Trainer has the overall responsibility of delivering real-time business and functional knowledge needed to enable employees to consistently meet client needs and achieve business goals. These functions include but are not limited to the Retail, HomeDirect, Correspondent, and Servicing channels of the Mortgage Division. Responsibilities include providing analysis, design, delivery, and assessment in all areas related to the education, learning, and development of Mortgage Banking employees. The Mortgage Trainer works with all levels of Management across the Mortgage Division to develop training material and curriculum to cover all policies, operating procedures, compliance, risk, and operating systems for each role. Additional responsibilities include partnering with the Mortgage Communications & Training Specialist and Manager, Mortgage Training & Communication to source and create content that will be distributed to Mortgage division employees. Trainer will work with the Manager, Mortgage Training & Communication to ensure learning content, communications, and programs are strategically aligned with key imperatives and objectives of the Mortgage organization and are effectively and efficiently delivered to employees.


  • Directly responsible for design, development, and implementation of training programs for Mortgage staff at all experience levels including but not limited to Onboarding, New Hire and Ongoing Training for all positions (Origination through Loan Delivery and Servicing), Loan Origination Systems, Correspondent Lending, Continuing Education, Products, Policies and Procedures, Regulatory and Compliance, and Risk Mitigation.

  • Responds to daily affiliate inquiries and assists with resolution of production problems. Learns complex topics quickly to assess, develop, redesign and/or deliver training modules or processes based on training priorities. Collaborates with subject matter experts to obtain knowledge for creating content for each priority. Provides training in relevant forms, procedures, and mediums. This includes but not limited to in-person instructor led, one-on-one, web based, LMS course, quiz, written documentation, communication, etc.


  • Extensive knowledge of the Mortgage business, Mortgage regulations, and applicable Mortgage products and systems.

  • Strong skills in development of training curriculum and content design.

  • Excellent writing skills, with demonstrated ability to research content, develop narrative, and produce finished product.

  • Ability to communicate complicated concepts and technical data in simple terms.

  • Outstanding organizational skills for managing priorities and workflow.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to work with enthusiasm in an environment of frequently changing priorities; a passion to proactively address urgent and sensitive matters.

  • Experience in utilizing learning management systems.

  • Excellent PC and software application skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

  • Ability to interact with Executive Management with ease.

  • Excellent facilitation and group leadership skills.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years experience in Mortgage lending or learning/staff development or a combination of 8-10 years of learning/staff development and Mortgage lending experience.
