UW Credit Union's Mortgage Lending department is growing and hiring a new Mortgage Loan Processor to join our Mortgage team! As a Mortgage Loan Processor, you'll be responsible for daily loan processing and basic operations for first mortgages. The person in this role succeeds by being knowledgeable of UW Credit Union investor guidelines and State and Federal regulations. As one of the top mortgage lenders in Wisconsin, this position plays a critical role in creating a smooth lending process for our members. Responsibilities

  • Process basic to complex loan files by income analysis, credit bureau review, repayment ability, and property value.

  • Deliver top notch guidance to members on loan documentation and application process.

  • Collaborate with loan officers to ensure quality service, including the effective handling of inquiries from realtors, members, and vendors.

  • Analyze loan applications for accuracy and compliance requirements. Submit for approval at various times and obtain complete information for all findings.

  • Communicate with loan originator on deadlines and outstanding documentation.

  • Consistently meet deadlines including commitment due dates, rate expirations, and closing dates and times.

  • Perform initial property appraisal review. Send title and appraisal order confirmations to vendors.

  • Pay vendors, close out LIP, and cancel services for denied/withdrawn loans.

  • Maintain working knowledge of various mortgage product options including fixed rate, adjustable rate, WHEDA, and lot loans.

  • Maintain a current understanding of all policies, investor guidelines, and state and federal guidelines related to saleability of the loan i.e. TRID, RESPA, etc.

  • Maintain knowledge of all private investor/FNMA/FHLMA/FHLB/Government/Secondary Market underwriting guidelines.

  • Educate members about underwriting guidelines and internal policies.

  • Work collaboratively with fellow Mortgage Lending Division team members regarding error resolution.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 7 months to one-year experience in mortgage lending or experience in a financial institution is preferred

  • Must have exceptional member service skills

  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail

  • Possess time management skills

  • Positively engage in assigned projects and training

  • Able to recommend and develop process improvements and procedures

As a Consumer Loan Processor, you will play a key role in ensuring both the completeness and timeliness of loans, as they are processed and disbursed to UW Credit Union members. When a UW Credit Union member applies, and is approved for, a loan, the 'baton' is handed to the Consumer Loan Processor – they review the loan application for accuracy, prepare all necessary loan documents, and deliver said loan documents in a timely manner. If you are organized, enthusiastic, and a great team player, this is the job for you! As a Consumer Loan Processor, you are skilled in both administrative 'behind-the-scenes' duties, and customer service. Time management and organization come naturally to you – prompt and accurate completion of tasks is where you shine. Attention to detail is a vital skill for a Consumer Loan Processor, as you are scanning loan applications for accuracy. Tactful and effective communication is an equally important attribute, as you are communicating any discrepancies identified back to your fellow UW Credit Union employees. A successful Consumer Loan Processor is an enthusiastic team member, as teamwork within your department, as well as across other departments within UW Credit Union, is imperative. Responsibilities * Monitor loan operating system disbursement queue to maintain service level and to ensure timely funding and disbursement of loans. * Conduct quality assurance review of each consumer loan to ensure loan is accurate, complete, and within all lending guidelines prior to funding. * Identify and document loan errors and communicate with lenders for error resolution. * Perform accurate disbursement of all loan proceeds through loan payoffs/payments, deposits to account, credit/debit of general ledgers, and cashier's checks. * Review core system to ensure the loan booking was completed in full – manually complete any portion of the booking process that did not occur due to errors in the loan application * Manage timely receipt of loan documentation through fax, email, mail, DocuSign, and interoffice mail, reviewing for accuracy, following up as needed with third party vendors, retail staff, or members * Review and verify loan paperwork received is accurate and complete – scan and file loan documentation accurately, orderly, and legibly into loan origination system or document storage * Ensure compliance with loan and deposit regulations * Answer calls from UW Credit Union staff in a timely and professional manner, and demonstrate positive call quality behaviors * Provide education and guidance to retail staff and members on loan processes, procedures and file requirements or conditions Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
