Overview

Responsible for administering and overseeing a Mortgage Operations department that assures compliance with investor and regulatory requirements as well as proper workflow management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of Loan Processors or Loan Closers in the processing and closing of Mortgage loan files. Organizes and directs the daily activity of one of the departments.

  • Oversees pipeline management to ensure loans are being processed and closed within established timeframes. Monitors all pipelines and reassign files as volume dictates.

  • Develops and administers Processing/Closing policies and procedures.

  • Works closely with compliance business partners on documenting and training on any regulatory updates.

  • Expert level knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory requirements/guidelines related to mortgage lending and internal processes and controls. Provide assistance to direct reports with complex file determinations.

  • Assist with loan reviews and providing responses to examiners, auditors and make corrections as necessary.

  • Monitors and assures investor and regulatory compliance throughout the origination process. Utilizes all quality reporting tools to identify areas of non-compliance and develops action plans and training for direct reports.

  • Evaluate facts and data to draw conclusions, determine the downstream impact of decisions and associated risks.

  • Manages and works closely with other Managers, Lenders, Underwriters, Clients, and Third Party Vendors.

  • Develop and maintain work flows for all stages of document preparation, closing, and file documentation, ensures consistency and adherence to that model in all Regions.

  • Complete and/or facilitate special projects and tasks as assigned.

Management

  • Effectively communicate performance expectations; monitor and hold staff accountable for their performance and their actions.

  • Act as a 'Coach' for associates to leverage strengths and understand and identify gaps in performance; conduct one-on-one meetings and timely appraise performance.

  • Provide development opportunities for staff aligning with their career goals and develops 'bench strength' for key positions.

  • Proactively recruit and maintain a pipeline of candidates who display requisite job skills and exhibit values consistent with Johnson Financial Group.

  • Create and sustain an environment which supports teamwork and mutual respect.

  • Communicates to team: corporate updates, business updates, etc. and conducts regular, meaningful team/department meetings.

  • Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels to efficiently execute department responsibilities.

  • Uses financial information to identify and implement cost containment or reduction programs and ensure expenditures are accurate and follow policies and procedures.

  • Models exemplary behaviors and actions for associates.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum ten years' experience with processing and/or closing complex Mortgage loans including secondary market, portfolio and construction loans in a multi-state environment.

  • Proficient in all MS Office Suite products.

  • Exhibits a positive approach to work duties and seeks ways to find efficiencies, without sacrificing quality or process.

  • Strong internal and external communication skills, established ability to develop relationships with key business partners and customers.

  • Exhibits ability to think critically.

  • Provides solutions to solve problems.

Conducts timely review of all documentation for accuracy and completeness; follows up on outstanding items, as required. * Communicate regularly with Loan Officers and clients to keep all parties updated on status. * Prepare, review and deliver all customer notifications for withdrawn and denied loans. * Work closely with all third party vendors and internal business partners to research and resolve transaction concerns. * Confirm adherence and compliance with all applicable bank, regulatory and investor * Perform duties and responsibilities specific to department functions and activities, or as assigned by supervisor. * Maintain current knowledge of lending products, systems and processes. Required Experience * High School graduate or equivalent. * Modest typing skills. * PC experience necessary. * Knowledge of Metavante Loan System helpful. * Previous mortgage experience preferred. * Must be comfortable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
