Mortgage Loan Operations Specialist

Location: Arlington Heights, IL/Remote

Duration: 12 months with possible contract to hire/ Possible extension


  • Handle assigned functions and regulations related to the support of loan processing.

  • Deliver upon quantitative and qualitative key performance indicators, in line with our business strategies and regulatory requirements (scorecard).

  • Continually review and understand work practices and policies to ensure ongoing audit and risk standards are met.

Customers / Stakeholders:

  • Mortgage Retail Sales

  • Mortgage Direct

  • Mortgage Business Development and Customer Acquisition

  • Credit risk RBWM

  • BRCM and Compliance functions supporting RBWM

  • Underwriting Quality Control - RBWM

  • Private Bank Mortgage team sales and credit

  • Key vendors supporting Mortgage Loan Originations at Client

  • Third Party Management function in client

  • Head of Mortgage and Mortgage Leadership Team

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Maintain highest standards of risk management, control and compliance.

  • Reduce overall operating losses and credit risk within management control.

  • Maintain KYC standards.

  • Implement and apply the processes, infrastructure and resources needed to deliver agreed team plans and targets, identifying and implementing improvements and collaborating with colleagues to maximize integration, effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Communicate and embed Client policy and procedures in order to ensure good operational, financial and project management, policy and procedural compliance and early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.

  • Provide timely, accurate, quality information to stakeholders to meet business and regulatory requirements.

Quick Overview:

  • This person will be assisting high producing loan processors with various tasks to support the full life cycle of the loan. They will be doing employment verification, following up on loan details. There is no consumer contact, but following up with third parties will be a requirement. Expectations are for high volume activities at this time. Having the ability to meet deadlines and objectives independently and within the team is critical.

Typical day might look like:

There will be a lot of email communications and tasks will be clearly identified. They will be working with their designated team daily on required tasks and deliverables/action items.

TOP nice- to- have skills:

  • Loan Processing experience as well as knowledge of Mortgage systems is a plus

  • Preferred bank, mortgage business, mortgage systems related experience or equivalent.

  • Excel proficiency and computer literacy is a must. If this person is not able to work remotely and perform they will not last.

  • Proven communications, organizational, analytical, administrative, problem- solving, project management and interpersonal skills.
