Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advises borrowers on financial status and discuss financing objectives and goals

  • Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet credit union and governmental standards

  • Evaluates acceptability of loan to corporations that buy real estate loans on secondary mortgage markets

  • Work with Mortgage Department staff to ensure file is submitted to underwriting in a timely manner

  • Stays in contact with and keeps the borrower informed from loan application through funding, requesting additional information as needed

  • Develops and maintains relationships with companies and individuals within the real estate community promoting the credit union

  • Cross-sells other credit union services

  • Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending. Ensure all compliance requirements, including credit union policies and procedures, are met

  • Produce assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers)

  • Maintain a professional work environment and business like appearance

  • Assist others within and outside the department as needed

  • In a timely manner, respond to borrower inquiries received through phone, branch, or online applications

  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Required: High School dipolma or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience

  • Preferred: Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school and 2-5 years of experience

  • Active NMLS number is required


  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary

  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to sell mortgage loans to members by explaining and communicating loan products and services of the credit union

  • Maintains confidentiality

  • Good time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as real estate purchase contracts, loan program guidelines, tax returns, income documentation, credit reports and preliminary title reports.

Computer Skills:

  • Basic word processing and computer skills required

  • Knowledge of Calyx Software is helpful

VIEW JOBS 4/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-11T00:00 Job Description ABOUT THE JOB (JOB BRIEF) The Mortgage Loan Processor Assistant reports to the Mortgage Loan Processing Supervisor and is responsible for obtaining necessary information to meet quality standards for completeness, accuracy and timelines established for the loan type. This individual will provide highly skilled support to a Loan Processor I and/or II. Reviews loan files for appropriate documents including credit report, updates title work, appraisal, final inspections, hazard insurance, flood certification and flood insurance if required. Will maintain and enhance personal knowledge of products and services as well as the laws, regulations and internal policies and procedures. Is able to interface effectively and professionally with clients, Loan Officers and branch referring partners. Provide quality customer service by answering questions for external and internal customers in a timely and professional manner. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Review all loan applications for accuracy, completeness and compliance * Image/index, review and submit completed files via the loan origination system to the underwriting department * Manage a time-line on all assigned loan files, ensuring the timely receipt of all required documents, following-up with the appropriate party, and scheduling appointments as necessaryDirectly communicate with Loan Officers, clients, service providers and branch referring partner * Provide exceptional service for both internal and external customers * Communicate with various companies to obtain property survey, flood certificate, title commitment and payoff information * To assist with documentation collection and data entry * Must be able to work independently and handle multiple priorities * Other duties as required * Able to interface effectively and professionally with applicants/borrowers, realtors, builders, appraisers, title companies and others in department to insure efficient and timely workflow and perform related duties as required.
