Position summary:

The Monitoring Technician, using an analyzer and electronic data recorder, is responsible for accurately monitoring components on an assigned route within an industrial facility. The Monitoring Technician is also responsible for calibrating equipment to ensure optimum performance of the analyzer, as well as identify leads and process leak tags.

Essential duties:

  • Demonstrates initiative, planning work and carrying out tasks without detailed instructions; makes constructive suggestions; prepares for problems or opportunities in advance and undertakes additional responsibilities.

  • Must possess the ability to use a portable analyzer and electronic data collector.

  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate situations and identify problems or opportunities, including likely causes.

  • Demonstrates concern for meeting internal and external customers' needs in a manner that provides satisfaction for the customer within the resources that can be made available.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and be open to considering new approaches to solving problems and work processes.

  • Ability to develop factual, logical courses of action, considering resources, constraints and company values.

  • Responsible for monitoring components in an industrial environment to detect emissions from process equipment.

  • Performs monitoring activities for an assigned route within a prescribed period of time, ensuring all components are accurately monitored and reported.

  • Responsible for calibrating equipment to ensure optimum performance. Makes minor mechanical adjustments when situations arise.

  • Identifies leaks and processes leak tags

  • Completes daily upload of monitoring activity to the customer database and completes daily emissions monitoring reports must have basic computer knowledge.

  • Communicate daily equipment changes with office personnel

  • Communicate/Coordinate with plant personnel.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Plant/Refinery Environment

  • Heights/Confined Spaces

Educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)

Skills and experience:

  • Strong communication (written, verbal and listening) and interpersonal skills.

  • Prior experience in chemical plants or refineries is helpful, but not necessary.

  • Must be willing/able to work at moderate to high levels of physical exertion for extended periods.

  • Must be willing/able to work in inclement weather conditions (extreme heat/cold).

  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES The Logistics Technician is accountable for: * Assuring HS&E requirements associated with shipping and receiving needs are met * Participative membership on all required teams * Management of all responsibilities related to inventory management * On a daily basis, managing shipping and receiving of products or raw materials as scheduled * Performing all running maintenance necessary to maintain the logistics process * Quality Management Systems * Generate and review "Near Miss" reports HS&E * On a daily basis, monitor facility conditions that have potential negative HS&E impact (inspect facility for leaking hoses, bleeder plugs in, faulty or damaged equipment, areas clean, HBS totes, pails, etc.) * Report any imminent HS&E conditions, which may exist via appropriate means (near miss, suggestion, etc.) * Participation on any HS&E related teams or committees as required * Adherence to safe work & environmental practices and procedures * Work to heighten and improve safety & environmental awareness * Participate in emergency response activities when necessary * Participate in the BSP process Team Member * Participate on all teams as required * Manage work load to allow time for team participation Daily Production Plan Coordination * Review the daily shipping and receiving plan and address current logistics needs such as: raw material status, tank age, blends, & HS&E issues: * address daily maintenance impacts on shipping and receiving such as: work priorities, permits, preparation and material needs, & project work * Proficient in SAP entries and navigation * address quality, loading rack, & logistics issues as they impact the shipping and receiving schedule * address any other miscellaneous issues that arise * address daily inventory changes and needs Routine Production * Maintain good housekeeping standards to provide safe & efficient work area * On a daily basis, make rounds to monitor facility conditions such as: * check oil levels in transfer pumps * pump down sumps * areas clean * hose inspections * equipment problems * tank farm temperature * Manage process throughput as efficiently as possible which includes: * blending, drumming and toting * sampling products and intermediates as required * manage daily inventory entries * Performing monthly and daily inventories as required and reconcile discrepancies * Completing any checklists, paperwork and inventories as required * Daily writing of work permits & subsequent equipment preparation and recommissioning responsibilities as required * Managing waste water shipments * Managing HBS201 * Ordering supplies as required * Any other miscellaneous tasks required to facilitate the production process * Manage hazardous waste accumulation and storage Shipping and Receiving * Manage daily shipping & receiving requirements as described in the daily planning meeting to fulfill the requirements of the Plant as listed: * Preparation of shipment paperwork * Loading finished products as scheduled * Unloading raw materials as scheduled * SAP entries Maintenance * Troubleshooting sump pumps and changing screens or pumps as required * Troubleshooting and correcting problems with faulty valves * All other miscellaneous maintenance required to maintain the logistics process Quality Management Systems * Participate in ISO audits as required * Identify and initiate corrective/preventive action when appropriate * Investigate issues and address resulting corrective/preventive action required when assigned Miscellaneous * Identifying current or new training needs and where applicable * Participate in internal auditing * Reviewing and writing process procedures * Time sheets & vacation scheduling REQUIREMENTS * Production background or knowledge, interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, oral and written communications, skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills, ability to set priorities, ability to work several tasks simultaneously.
