Aetea has been asked by their valued client, a leading financial company, to assist with their need for a Monitoring Engineer. The client and the team youll be working in are great and offer positive challenges in a dynamic environment.
To give you an idea of what you will be doing and team you will be doing it with, heres the high level overview:

Establish monitoring standards and procedures to ensure configurations meet non-functional requirements

Defining architectural strategy for monitoring in co-operation with service owners, business owners, and performance engineering teams

Provide technical leadership and design accountability for production monitoring

Drive the transition of non-standard to standard solutions

Solve intractable problems with previous domain experience and automation

Basic Qualifications:

Proficiency with monitoring tools including Nagios, SiteScope, Wily, AppDynamics, Netcool, and/or ELK

Experience with configuration management automation tools (Chef, Puppet, SCCM)

Experience with revision control source code repositories (Git, SVN)

Experience with continuous integration services (GoCD, Jenkins)

Knowledge of ITIL taxonomy and non-functional requirements

Knowledge of IP networking, VPN's, DNS, load balancing and firewalling.

Strong scripting skills, e.g. Bash, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, Python, etc.

Strong knowledge of web protocols and systems
5+ experience implementing, troubleshooting, and/or supporting production environments

Minimum of 5 years in the IT industry

BS Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

The Executive Director leading Application Telemetry Engineering will own architecture, design, and build of Telemetry, including monitoring, metric and event frameworks, visualization and high volume data aggregation. A successful candidate will work alongside Product Owners and Chief Development Officers to deploy systems critical to instrumentation of applications, services and business flows. Data collected from these solutions is used for real time alerts, and is correlated and visualized in self-service operational dashboards. Data is examined against traditional alert capabilities, dynamic threshold variance, anomaly detection, and event cluster correlation. Telemetry solutions span all deployment patterns including legacy, micro-services, both on and off premise cloud, and mainframe. The Executive Director will build relationships and work with the business and IT leadership to understand current and develop new strategies and implications on applications and operations. Utilize experience with budgetary forecasting, Global resource teams, client and vendor management, risk and vulnerability management, disaster recovery planning and developer/code efficiency concepts. Provide input, influence decisions, and drive change across technology, not limited by organizational lines or to activities within their own department.
