The Monitor Technician has the responsibility for monitoring the assigned central telemetry of the adolescent and adult patient population.Documents sample strips indicating usual rhythm as well as arrhythmias. Reports arrhythmias to the nurse immediately.Reports disruptions in continuous monitoring to the nurse.Reports equipment problems for corrective action.
Job Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:
Completes hand off communication at change of shift,during meal breaks and other. Communicates with incoming shift issues with equipment,pending patients for admission, remote tele patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of Basic Arrtythmia interpretation and reports any changes to nurse/charge nurse and follows Chain of Command as appropriate.
Ensures rhythm strip is obtained on new admit or transfer patient immediately upon arrival to unit.
Ensures strips are printed every four hours or as required.
Ensures that standards of care are maintained in monitored patients.
Consistently adhere to NPSG for two patient identifiers to confirm patient identification prior to the provision of care related services.
Required Job Qualifications Include:
High school or equivalent
0-2 years of experience
Basic Arrhythmia Knowledge
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written).
