The Monitor Tech/Desk Clerk functions as a member of the Patient Care Team to provide appropriate basic care to patients based on the ages of the patients served on the units. Monitor Technicians observe and monitor patients' EKG rhythms per remote viewing station.
They assemble and maintain logs and are able to recognize and identify cardiac rhythms, alarms, and emergent situations. They are responsible for assembly, maintenance, cleaning, and tracking of equipment. They assemble and maintain patient charts ensuring documents are filed and scanned into EMR in a timely manner.
The Monitor Technician communicates with nursing staff and may run errands for the staff upon request. The position performs duties and tasks related to acceptance, registration, and electronic transfer of patients. The Monitor Technician utilizes fax/copy machines, Hyland scanner, and pneumatic tube system.
High School Diploma or GED.
Basic office skills, including proficiency in the use of computers.
Able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone and computer messaging.
6 or more months experience in clerical duties, customer service and computer knowledge.
To have an understanding of medical terminology.
