From assessing normal and abnormal ECG interval measurements, to proper and improper pacemaker rhythms, to implantable defibrillator function, you will be integral to the high level of care we provide our patients. Responsibilities
In your role, you will:
Observe, monitor, review and document each patient's cardiac rhythm. Differentiate between lethal and non-lethal arrhythmias and notifies the RN promptly of any arrhythmias.
Review patients' cardiac medication profiles. Notify the nursing and medical staff of heart rhythm pattern variances or ECG interval variances that represent adverse reactions or toxic effects of medications.
Use calipers to measure rate and ECG intervals of patients' heart rhythm patterns on a graphic tape readout, analyze the heart rhythm and record the information on patient's charts.
Record strips every 4 hours, or as needed. Maintain an adequate supply of monitoring supplies.
Report malfunction of the cardiac monitoring computer and central station equipment to the Manager; thoroughly cleans patient monitor components.
Qualifications
Education• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required• Successful completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Recognition or ECG/EKG interpretation course required Experience• 1 year of Unit Clerk experience preferred• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience preferred Licenses and Certifications• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required CHS HealthStream Course• ECG - ECG Rhythm Exam Non-Clinical (Administered by CHS) required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position Incumbents in this position prior to October 4, 2019 are grandfathered with their existing qualifications
