Central Telemetry Monitoring
Night (United States of America)
1400 to 2230 pm every other weekend.
Monitor patients' EKG waveforms at a centralized monitoring station providing safe, quality patient care. Monitor patients to provide a safe patient care environment using video monitoring equipment.
- Observe cardiac telemetry monitors while interpreting rhythms and arrhythmias independently or with minimal supervision. Reports all changes in heat rate/rhythm to appropriate nursing staff.
Maintain compliance with required documentation on telemetry patients. Maintain appropriate flow of communication per policy for quality patient care with nursing staff, transporters, house supervisors, operators, physicians, and other departments as warranted. Troubleshoot monitoring difficulties with central stations, alerting bio-med of any software of hardware problems.
Orients and mentors new staff members. AvaSys Monitor Technician Place patient under continuous video monitoring. Record initiation of video monitoring on patient log and the reason for continuous video monitoring.
Observes video of patients and calls nurse/nursing staff directly if an issue arises with the patient that needs staff response. Attempt to verbally redirect patient through microphone and encourage them to stay in bed. Record any verbal patient cueing.
Record calls to the nurse/nursing staff. Document patient's activities at least every four (4) hours on the video-monitoring log. Notify House Supervisor (or Charge Nurse of each unit in the absence of a House Supervisor) when number of patients being monitored has reached the limit of monitors available and ask Charge Nurse to facilitate process of seeing which patients can have their continuous video monitoring discontinued.
Perform other duties as assigned. Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service. Adhere to the organization's published values.
High School / GED / Math And Reading Assessment (Required)

Basic computer, data entry, typing, filing and organization skills required.
Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice.
Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors.
Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.
