Job Summary

Charles River Labs is currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant- OPS Inventory Coordinator

The working hours for this position is Monday - Friday 8:30- 5pm.

This role will provide daily support to technologists to ensure that all laboratory functions are carried out within regulatory and GMP guidelines in accordance with 21 CFR parts 210 and 211, in addition to ISO 17025 guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain working knowledge of the Quality System and Laboratory Information System.

  • Support the daily operation of a microbiological testing laboratory, including but not limited to:

o Oversee laboratory receiving area as well as receive, unpack, and organize customer samples for laboratory processing.

o Prepare and aliquot reagents according to laboratory SOP's.

o Perform daily, weekly, and monthly routine cleaning of all laboratory equipment.

o Oversee Operations laboratory inventory, restock consumables/materials required for sample processing.

o Order reagents and supplies for laboratory operations.

  • Oversee and provide direction for laboratory interns' activities.

  • Assist and support daily customer sample processing under supervision, including but not limited to:

o Prepare ethanol extracts.

o Perform test streaks and subcultures.

o Participate in receiving lab reagents and entering in LIMS.

o Operate and maintain laser cutter.

o Dispose of microbial cultures, chemicals, recyclables, sharps, and glass in proper waste containers.

o Engage actively in the returns process, while also directing troubleshooting efforts to identify and address any operational challenges.

o Receive laboratory media.

  • Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOP's and MSDS/SDS sheets.

  • Provide backup for any laboratory functions as needed.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma/Associate degree in Microbiology or related discipline required.

  • Experience: 0-2 years related experience in a laboratory setting.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Compensation Data

The compensation range for this position is $21- $22 per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
