Molecular PCR Supervisor

As a PCR Laboratory Supervisor at IDEXX BioAnalytics, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. While managing a team of Medical Laboratory Technicians, you will also perform molecular laboratory testing that helps serve professionals in the biomedical and life science fields across the world. IDEXX BioAnalytics, Inc., a division of IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. is a leader in diagnostic testing for both the biomedical and life science market. The laboratory is based in Columbia, Missouri and employs approximately 70 people.

In This Role:

• You will leverage your passion for coaching and developing employees, and helping them reach business goals and their full potential

• You will organize staff schedules, coordinate workflow, and oversee costs and metrics

• You will problem-solve every day, from trouble-shooting diagnostic analyzers to resolving situational workflow and turnaround time challenges

• You will review SOPs and help maintain equipment records

• You will perform inventory and supplies ordering

• You will perform total nucleic acid extractions from a variety of sample types

• You will perform molecular testing via real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction)

• You will lead the resolution of critical issues and coordination with other departments

• You will use of analyzer and other molecular diagnostic methods to detect the molecular presence of pathogens

• You will Lead/contribute to process improvements based on evaluation of existing procedures and business needs

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• You've directly supervised 5+ employees in a fast-paced and/or high-volume work environment

• You have a 4-year degree in a Science-related field

• You have knowledge of human clinical or veterinary testing procedures.

• You love a fast-paced, high-volume, innovative work environment

• You are passionate about people leadership

• You are excited about the opportunity to use your skills and abilities in promoting the health and well-being of animals.

• Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:

• The hours for this position are Monday

• Friday 12pm to 8.30pm.

• The hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.

• Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
