Position scope/summary

The Injection Molding Process Engineer is a "hands-on" position that plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high-quality injection molded products. The Process Engineer is responsible for coordinating the molding efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes, and assisting the manufacturing operations in problem-solving and continuous process improvements. While monitoring the effectiveness of processes, this individual quantifies results, documents and presents findings to management, and prepares reports. This position also mentors and provides training to other injection molding personnel.

Position Requirements:

  • Design and develop new molds, molding processes, techniques, process improvements, and cost reductions.

  • Perform data analysis and/or write progress reports on existing manufacturing processes to ensure performance is within expectations.

  • Perform analysis on customer returns to determine the root cause of failures or complaints.

  • Procure new equipment and necessary training as required.

  • Repair or arrange for repair of equipment or facilities in the manufacturing area as required.

  • Lead activities of Process Technicians and in support of assigned projects.

  • Provide process and/or equipment training to process technicians and operators as required.

  • Develop strategic supplier relationships as appropriate.

  • Responsible for new process implementation and current production process improvement/optimization.

  • Develops and runs IQ/OQ/PQ and documents these processes/protocols.

  • Monitors all assembly operations, tracking efficiency and potential issues.

  • Identifying and analyzing of flows, layouts, and workplaces.

  • Troubleshooting (root cause analysis) and solving equipment and process issues.

  • Will be "hands-on" technical support for operations and will train all personnel associated with the maintenance, training, and other areas of the injection molding and assembly room departments.

  • Must be well-versed in scientific injection principles

  • Working knowledge of machining, tools, fixturing, and assembly practices.

  • Strong working knowledge of actual molds in the tooling part of plastic injection molding, taking apart and adjusting molds on a regular basis.

  • Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self-motivation.

  • Demonstrated superior communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and recommend options.

  • Performs all duties and directs others creating a safe working environment for our employees and our communities.

  • Performs other duties as necessary

Job Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Plastic Processing is preferred.

  • 3-5 years minimum experience in an injection molding engineering role with direct responsibility for injection molding process and applied experience to Scientific Molding principles.

  • Proficiency in MS Office products.

Knowledge:

  • In addition, the individual must have a working knowledge of ISO and applicable customer and regulatory standards.

Environmental working conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $90,000 - $110,000 annual salary. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
