Module Advanced Development RF Engineer responsible for detailed RF design, modeling and testing of advanced high speed optoelectronic modules. Work with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to achieve system signal integrity objectives and meet schedule, volume, cost, performance, and quality targets.

Description

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities:

  • Design complex RF structures for high speed optoelectronic modules

  • Develop test structures for evaluating new system performance

  • Work with vendors to get designs fabricated

  • Test & verify that designs and test vehicles perform as designed

Education / Experience:

  • BS in science/engineering required, MS/PhD desired (EE, Optics, Physics)

  • 5+ years of experience with RF design and testing required, expertise with optical transmitter and receiver modules for telecom desired.

  • Proven track record of taking products from early design and development, through initial builds and into volume manufacture

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with others essential

  • Experience with RF design and simulation tools such as HFSS and ADS required

  • Familiarity with high speed RF test equipment and methods required including VNA, TDR, electrical spectrum analyzer, electrical sampling oscilloscope, etc

  • Strong technical understanding of optoelectronic components & ASICs required

  • Strong problem solving and data analysis capabilities are required

  • Prior telecom laser and detector experience desired

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities * Responsible for the process engineering of complex optical packages. * Drive end to end yield improvements and touch time reduction. * Drive root cause analysis and correction of production failures. * Responsible for optical module mechanical assembly and material handing methods, to include: Work instructions, personnel training, process improvement, FMA, process controls and measurables. * Report production and yield results to production team and management * Support LEAN manufacturing and Cost Reduction activities * Responsible for resolving engineering issues for released products. * Be able to work independently and prioritize tasks Education / Experience * BS or MS in science or engineering required * Manufacturing experience is a plus Knowledge / Skills / Abilities * The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, analytic, detail-oriented, possesses quantitative analysis skills, is self-motivated, a great team member, able to pro-actively communicate with all employees and work well in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. * Proficient with statistical analysis, experience with JMP a plus. * Experience with Agile and SAP, a plus. * MRSI bonder experience a plus * Pulse laser experience a plus * Solder reflow process experience a plus * CAD skills SolidWorks, AutoCAD is a plus * This position requires interface throughout all levels and functions of the organization. * Direct knowledge of complex electronic sub-assemblies, assembly practices is a plus Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
