Position Overview

The Modeling Specialist will assist and support projects and pursuits in the quantification of work items through takeoffs. The Modeling Specialist will work within a new Project Controls group within Kiewit that focuses on providing accurate and timely quantities to support the successful construction of various projects throughout the US and Canada. This new Project Controls group is the cutting edge of using the latest technology and procedures to support large infrastructure projects.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of our company that offers a variety of services, including, temporary and permanent design services for current projects and new project pursuits in the United States and Canada. Our design services group has offices in Colorado, Nebraska, Washington State, and Toronto, Canada offering expertise in structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, and materials disciplines. Our engineering group is responsible for managing engineering assignments in support of Kiewit's construction projects in both the United States and Canada. As part of the engineering group, you will have the opportunity to work with other structural and geotechnical engineers, members of our interdisciplinary engineering team, as well as estimators, schedules and construction experts to provide advice on construction methodology, risk and the design of temporary works.

Location

This role will work out of Kiewit's Englewood, CO (South Denver) office.

Responsibilities

  • Reading and reviewing documents, contracts, drawings and specifications with the ability to create models from these

  • Quantifying construction components using PDF plans, 2D CAD files, and/or 3D models

  • Coordination and communication with designers, construction personnel, and project controls staff to facilitate takeoff of work items

  • Model/file management- Clash detection- 4D simulation/schedules- Renderings and/or animations produced from the 3D model

  • Site logistics plans- Excavation models- Aid in the coordination/creation of lift drawings as required

  • Documentation and printing

Qualifications

  • Familiar with reading drawings/blueprintsAssociate's in Architecture, Construction Management, Survey, Geomatics/GIS, or Engineering, Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Proficiency with at least one infrastructure-focused modeling software such as Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, AGTEK, or similar Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision

Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

  • Experience implementing various model related processes with the ability to take the initiative and proactively address challenges or gaps in the process

  • Professional experience in construction or infrastructure design preferred but not required

  • Experience with takeoff software such as OnScreen, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar preferred but not required

This includes scope definition, design development, cost estimation, engineering support services during construction, safety certification and system integration support services, project closeout, etc. * Develop standard design guidelines and capture lessons learned from industry best practices to produce fully integrated designs. * Train and develop junior engineering staff. Qualifications * This position requires an experienced candidate who can work in a multi-discipline project environment and communicate effectively with internal and external clients, sub-consultants, and suppliers to successfully support the successful delivery of complex rail electrification projects. * Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills. * Strong leadership skills in manage and mentor technical staffs working toward a common goal. * Ability to develop junior staffs in both technical and project management skills. * Bachelor's degrees in engineering field. * 15 years of relevant working experience. * Professional engineering license in United States or ability to obtain one in 6 months.
