Penske Technology Group has an opening for a Model Maker / TestTechnician with experience in the basics of rapid prototyping, CAD, researchand development testing, scale model construction / modification / maintenance,computer controlled equipment / model motion, and instrumentation. The Model Maker / Test Technician will workat Penske Technology Group's wind tunnel operations. Knowledge of compositematerials, composite lay-up, scanning / reverse engineering, andmechanical/electrical/computer systems is essential. A background in automotive,aircraft, or aerospace R&D preferred.
Automotive (primarily wind tunnel and vehicle dynamic) testing.
Developing and building wind tunnel models and associated prototype test parts.
Instrumentation calibration and installation.
Light fabrication, machining and mechanical assembly.
Build, instrument and maintain scale model and full scale race cars for wind tunnel testing.
Interface with Engineering personnel to conduct aerodynamic and various research and development testing.
Must have excellent attention to detail and patience for precision measurement.
Ability and experience to operate computer controlled equipment.
Ability to understand procedural manuals, execute work orders, interpret engineering drawings/CAD models and utilize precision metrology/measurement equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and prepare reports and documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to solder and crimp electrical connectors and neatly route/secure instrumentation, wiring, cabling, looms, sensors, etc.
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds. Will be required to work on knees for extended periods of time on rolling road in wind tunnel test section.
Ability to work flexible schedule and overtime occasionally to accomplish on-time delivery.
Associates degree in Science (A.S.) preferred.
At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
