The selected applicant shall provide modeling and engineering support to the MDA for Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) development as part of enterprise architecture. This position provides Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) support to enhance the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) enterprise architecture. The MBSE modeler works with MDA engineers to capture system behavior and structure, and to explore potential improvements to the system. The position participates in the development of a system-of-systems architecture model, ensuring M&S requirements drive an integrated (System-level) M&S capability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal

  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies

  • Support analysis of BMD governance documents for periodic updates



Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years directly related experience.

  • Previous experience in any of the BMDS subcomponents activities.

  • This position requires the selected candidate have an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering experience with M&S systems and their uses

  • Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) certifications (e.g. OMG, INCOSE)

  • Practical experience with MBSE (SysML) (not just UML)

  • Experience with MBSE tools (eg EA Sparx, IBM Rhapsody, Magic Draw) integrated with requirements management tools (eg DOORs) and CM tools (eg SVN, Clearcase)

  • Prior experience supporting development of technical publications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group

  • Ability to effectively participate and collaborate with functionally and geographically diverse teams of engineering professionals with differing perspectives, skills, and backgrounds

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and non-MBSE trained people, both in written and spoken forms

  • Ability to provide significant contribution in the areas of creative thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking, strategic thinking and out-of-the-box thinking

  • Energetic, motivated, self-starting

Preferred Capabilities/Experience:

  • Understanding of the BMD system implementation

  • Experience working with systems-of-systems or family-of-systems, preferably in a DoD context

  • Experience in the use and analysis of M&

Description: Individual will apply principles of Model-Based Systems Engineering to complex "systems of systems" programs in fast paced dynamic development environments such as NASA, DoD programs, or commercial environments. Individual will develop solutions that are unique to supporting the aerospace industry.
