Description Are you passionate about applying digital engineering tools and techniques to revolutionize how complex systems are designed and developed? Are you a systems thinker with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) experience that wants to help ensure our nation's tactical weapons are superior to near peer adversaries?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to help us develop and apply digital engineering tools and processes, such as model based systems engineering (MBSE), throughout the system engineering lifecycle. Our Tactical Weapons Systems Engineering group works closely with the Air Force, Navy, and DARPA to help them engineer, model, and analyze performance of complex tactical weapon systems (including cutting-edge hypersonics) that are critical in deterring our adversaries.

As a member of our team, you'll represent APL to provide MBSE and digital engineering expertise to help our DoD customers make critical design and acquisition decisions that will ensure our nation's preeminent long range tactical weapons meet warfighter needs. As a Digital Engineer you will... Support the government sponsor in systems engineering activities such as developing digital engineering models, evaluating requirements, assessing and verifying performance specifications against models describing the system design. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of SMEs to develop engineering models of complex systems for the purpose of informing decision makers, simplifying design and test, and understanding system performance.

Develop frameworks to connect system models, analytical tools and visualization environments across system life-cycle. Work with industry, academic, and government laboratory staff to identify opportunities and apply promising emerging technologies to evaluate software and hardware engineering products in support of advanced weapons applications. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Possess Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research/Applied Mathematics, or another related technical field.

Have at least three years of relevant experience in systems development.

Have experience developing and customizing system modeling using UML/SysML and associated modeling software such as Cameo. Have direct experience applying aspects of MBSE in support of system development.

Have strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams, including industry and Government sponsors. Ability and willingness to travel to present work to customers, provide technical advice during new system development/system modifications, and support laboratory/field testing. Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance.

If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... Possess Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research/Applied Mathematics, or related technical field.

Have relevant Object Management Group (OMG) SysML certification. Have direct experience using and/or writing custom scripts and/or plug-ins for Cameo modeling software. Have experience with model integration into and across a digital engineering ecosystem.

Have worked with modeling frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework or Unified Architecture Framework. Have knowledge of DoD Planning, Programming and Budgeting, Acquisition Process/Lifecycle, Research and Development, Test and Evaluation systems. Hold an active TS/SCI clearance or above.
