Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Mid-level Systems Engineer to lead development of the Model Based Systems Engineering training for Boeing second century (2CES) efforts.

This position supports the 2nd Century Enterprise Systems (2CES) Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) effort to deploy the 2CES MBSE tool suite to programs across Boeing (BDS, BCA, BGS, and ET&T). This position interfaces with programs across Boeing to identify, prioritize, generate, and improve MBSE training across multiple training media formats. This position will also work with programs to tailor template SE/MBSE training curriculum. The candidate should have experience developing training material and experience with Systems Engineering activities through the life cycle (such as requirements development, system design, verification planning and testing, etc.).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead 2CES MBSE Training Team.

  • Program outreach and communication with MBSE users, System Architecture Leads, and Division Systems Engineering leaders to identify and prioritize training needs.

  • MBSE startup related to training for new and existing Programs.

The individual will need to be a self-starter, comfortable with identifying and solving problems, able to understand the big design picture (larger than just training and MBSE), and have good communication skills. The successful candidate will work in a fast paced and dynamic environment and work both independently and as part of team to support BDS programs start-up and execution. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to resolve cross-functional technical issues are also required. Occasional travel to teammate locations is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

  • 8+ years foundational experience in Engineering

  • Knowledge of MBSE techniques and tools (4+ years is a strong plus).

  • Experience developing training material or approaches.

  • Experience with MS Office toolset

Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience):

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Experience and working knowledge with Program and Project Management Best Practices.

  • Experience leading a team.

  • Experience developing training for large engineering or organizational transitions.

  • Experience with innovative forms to deploy technical training.

  • Experience working with Boeing LLOC (Leadership, Learning, and Organizational Capability).

  • Systems Engineering experience.

Typical Education/Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This group also supports the integration of lifecycle system models to support mission and system level analysis and trade studies and System Knowledge Integration of MBSE Practices with Agile. Position is located in Oklahoma City, OK for the PAICoE Systems Engineering Directorate. Role and Responsibilities * Perform resource planning and staffing; employee development, including skills training and career support; performance management, including employee goal setting, performance appraisals and issue resolution (engineering personnel that range in grade from engineer 1 to 5 level) * MBSE Section Manager ensures their employees are familiar with and use required engineering processes and tools. * Responsibilities also include day-to-day operation of the functional organization; including employee resources among programs and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues; establishes decision required escalation and resources required for resolution. * Candidates should be overall system/big picture thinkers with desire for continuous growth in systems engineering and technical management. * The MBSE Section Manager is a dual-hat Engineering Manager responsible for both section management (up to 20% of time) and existing program or other responsibilities (80% or more of time) * Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with senior management, peers, and employees. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
