We are seeking a mobile web developer with demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise scale web solutions. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic vision and solid execution skills to create responsive web applications for mobile and the desktop.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable web applications using open source technologies

  • Develop a hybrid mobile application with React Native and integrating other native components

  • Develop responsive web application User Interfaces using HTML5, CSS, and Javascript

  • Work with UX Designers, Mobile Architects, and other Developers to implement full stack web and mobile solutions

  • Work as part of an agile team on leading edge technologies

Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years experience developing web and mobile software applications

  • Highly skilled Javascript developer using Backbone, Angular, ReactJS, and similar frameworks

  • Demonstrated expertise with React Native development

  • Demonstrated expertise with HTML5, CSS3 and Responsive Web Design

  • Experience using NodeJS to build scalable web services a plus

  • Experience with other open source frameworks a plus

  • Experience with Oracle, MySql, and/or PostgreSQL

  • Experience with NoSql databases such as MongoDB or CouchDB a plus

  • Experience with ORM solutions such as Hibernate and Mongoose

  • Understanding of document description languages such as JSON and XML

  • Clear understanding of software development best practices

  • Demonstrated experience working with teams using agile methodologies

  • Working knowledge of SCM with strong emphasis on Git and proper Git Flow

  • Experience working with AWS

The position leads a team that works directly with internal customers to provide digital/web subject matter expertise and delivery capabilities. The Manager of Enterprise Web Content is responsible for critical assets including TheHartford.com, enterprise search, The Hartford's intranet site, Knowledge Management, Content as a Service and a SharePoint COE. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results oriented individual, who demonstrates courageous leadership, with a strong technical background in Agile, financial and management experience. Based in Hartford, CT, the Enterprise Web Content Manager will be responsible for working with stakeholders across the company on their roadmap to align resources, technology solutions and delivery. The role of the manager is to create and define technology delivery plans, translate them into tactical/strategic solutions, implement and successfully maintain on-going solutions. The EWC-Manager will lead a team of developers, business analysts and scrum masters. Successful delivery of these Web Content applications and services requires strong relationships, collaboration with various business leads, IT, Operations and vendor partners. In addition, this role will manage a budget for projects, vendors and resources in the range of $1M to $3M. The success of The Hartford's digital agenda is highly reliant on the performance of the Enterprise Web Content team, effective processes and the close collaboration with various internal constituents. The role requires extensive partnership with segment digital leadership and highly matrixed cross-functional teams, including eBusiness, Operations, Marketing, Technology and Digital COEs (Centers of Excellence). Responsibilities: * Work with customers to understand business needs and prioritize work accordingly * Team is responsible for 24/7 support of key Hartford web properties, including www.thehartford.com, Consumer and Small Commercial Online Service Center content management * Financial forecasting and budgetary responsibilities of both resources & software * Lead and manage a team made up of developers and business analysts * Ownership of development and support of key platforms including Production environment * Partners with Platform Engineering on the design of enterprise environments * Develop and articulate solutions based on strategic business requirements ascertained from working with multiple business units and stakeholders across the organization that map directly to the organization's strategy * Consult with internal teams and stakeholders to best understand strategic and tactical goals, current issues, challenges, budgets and resources; develop roadmap accordingly * Participate in and/or lead studies pertaining to the development of enterprise technology solutions that meet current and projected business needs * Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements to support existing business to include analyzing and documenting user requirements, processes, procedures and problems to improve existing processes * Maintain a catalog of services available for the Enterprise and socialize the services to business segments and partners * Operate a continuous improvement service delivery model to increase efficiencies for delivery * Establish success criteria for with financial, project management and key performance indicators * Demonstrated ability to design new processes, policies and procedures * Enable leadership through understanding and application of choices and enterprise level strategic and tactical level perspectives around web and accessibility standards The Manager, Enterprise Web Content is an in office role, located in Hartford, CT. * Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent experience * 10 years Information Technology experience preferred with experience directly managing teams * 5 years of experience in Web solution delivery preferred * Strong foundational knowledge of internet technologies, development practices, and competence in a former developer/tech lead or architect role * Familiarity with Minimally Viable Product (MVP) and iterative design and development methodology, with experience in application development * Ability to collaborate and work effectively with customers and technical staff * Possess agile and project leadership capabilities, initiative and is driven by results * Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to break down complex problems * Able to set and manage team priorities effectively in a dynamic organization * Ability to represent complex issues, operational metrics and key performance indicators to Senior Management * Ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors, and influence course of actions in a highly matrixed environment * Strong working knowledge of web content management capabilities and business value * Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
