Job Summary

Semi-truck driver to serve as the primary driver of tractor-trailer type Mobile Medical Unit and assist with delivery of patient care services to remote location within the state.

Responsibilities

Transport large Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), equipment, and medical team to remote locations in a timely and safe manner. Follow established routes using GPS navigation assistance for safe operation of large vehicles in rural areas.

Ensure that all equipment is properly secured prior to transport. Prepare remote location for patient services, including setup of mobile unit, stairs and platforms, external generators and shore-based power connections, etc. Connect and disconnect trailer from semi-truck as needed.

Operate associated machinery, such as wheelchair lifts, generators, HVAC and support equipment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the MMU. Perform regular vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle logs.

Transport unit for scheduled maintenance, service and cleaning. Communicate effectively with medical personnel to ensure proper delivery of MMU. Follow all traffic laws, regulations and maintain a safe driving record. Must be extremely professional, reliable and safety focused at all times.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. 3. Comply with the company's attendance policy. 4. Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5.

Perform work in a cost effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8.

Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required) • High school diploma or equivalent. • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with a clean driving record. • Must maintain valid DOT physical. • Previous experience driving large semi-truck/trailer preferred. • Ability to safely operate and maneuver a large vehicle. • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies. • Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Credentials
