Area of Responsibility

  • Maintenance

  • Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.

  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds, and production equipment as it pertains to assigned buildings.

  • Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities.

  • Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.

  • Safety

  • Complete Hazard Assessments as necessary

  • Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize danger and safety hazards and propose methods to eliminate them.

  • Maintain compliance to State, County, or City Ordinances, Codes, or Laws.

  • Must complete all required safety trainings as scheduled

  • Practice Defensive Driving at all times

  • Driving

  • Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license

  • Administrative

  • Submit P-card Receipts Daily

  • Update work order status in real time

  • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed.

  • Perform Vehicle Safety Inspection

  • Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner

  • Attend work and safety meetings as required

  • Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Education/training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience

  • Preferred: 3rd Party Certification

  • Years of relevant experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair and maintenance. Knowledge of overall system design and applications.

  • Other abilities

  • Strong Customer Service skills

  • Strong Interpersonal skills

  • Certifications/licenses

  • HVAC technicians must have a Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Licenses as required by authority having jurisdiction

  • Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel

  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC

  • Physical work requirements and work conditions

  • Physical Work Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 80 lbs.

  • Working from heights.

  • Frequently climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, and working/extending overhead.

  • Working in adverse conditions (i.e., extreme cold, extreme hot).

  • Driving for long periods of time.

  • Climbing a ladder with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying a tool bag weighing approximately 20 lbs.

  • Climbing a ladder up to 30 feet.

Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required.

Responsibilities: In this role, the qualified individual will be expected to: * Report to Engineering Manager. Responsible for the day-to-day execution of projects within the substation physical team: project execution, adhering to budgets and schedules, peer quality review, and mentorship; with some client interaction and business development assistance. * Prepare and review proposals, technical write-ups and project approach documents for small, medium and large projects. This includes preparation and review of comprehensive project scopes of work and accurate man-hour estimates. * Develop project schedules using common software (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) in support of proposal development. * Present and justify proposals, estimates and technical write-ups to management for small, medium and large projects. * Provide technical training to junior staff by preparing presentations and workshops and conducting one-on-one meetings to assist with their technical growth. * Provide professional mentorship while setting and maintaining a positive professional example for the team and junior staff. * Lead and/or perform Substation Engineering design (including general arrangement, electrical plans and sections, grounding plan and details, raceway plan and details, shielding plan and details, lighting plan and details, functional diagrams, AC Elementary, DC Elementary, Wiring Diagrams, etc.) at HV and EHV voltage levels while adhering to prevailing standards, practices, procedures and project/program requirements. * Lead and/or conduct substation engineering studies and calculations (including bus spans, shielding, lighting, conduit fill, AC/DC loading and system design, etc.). * Understand and apply industry standards, applicable state and federal safety codes, regulatory compliance requirements and construction codes to projects. * Create equipment, material, construction and testing and commissioning specifications.• Perform quality control (QC) reviews and lead QC review meetings on applicable engineering deliverables produced by junior staff, peers and remote offices on small, medium and large projects while adhering to the PDS quality management standard. * Provide technical oversight, direction and support for project teams. * Assure proper documentation of project technical data. * Ensure and facilitate project team collaboration and communication across all disciplines and resolve design conflicts as required. * Coordinate with project managers to successfully deliver projects to our clients. * Direct and/or participate in client meetings and job-site visits to collect and deliver design and engineering information. * Identify and resolve project-related issues while proactively communicating and collaborating with the client. * Complete conceptual design (one-line and general layout) to support project planning. * Support Leidos' company goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
